Original MIGHTY MORPHIN Red Ranger Austin St. John Rumored To Return For POWER RANGERS BEAST MORPHERS

Here's a hot rumor to take you into the weekend as it's being reported that original Mighty Morphin Red Ranger Austin St. John may be on the verge of an epic return to the Power Rangers franchise.

Seventeen years after the most monumental crossover in Power Rangers history, "Forever Red," it appears the original Red Ranger may finally be ready to return to the franchise he helped build.

According to the relatively reliable That Hashtag Show, Austin St. John is set to appear in an upcoming team-up episode of Power Rangers Beast Morphers, reprising his iconic role as Jason Lee Scott, the original Mighy Morphin Red Ranger.

The legendary ranger originally debuted in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers before leaving midway through the second season due to contract disputes. He later returned to play the fan-favorite Gold Ranger in Power Rangers Zeo and also appeared in Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie before making his last appearance in 2002's "Forever Red."

If this report proves to be true, it would be quite an achievement for Hasbro, who famously bought the franchise from Saban last year, as it would mark the first time one of the original five cast members has returned in nearly two decades. It could also be a good indicator of what the toy giant has planned for the future as fans could see other Zordon-era Rangers make their own returns to the show down the line.

The super team-up episode will air sometime in 2020 and is expected to be an adaptation of the one-shot movie, Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger vs. Go-Busters: Dinosaur Great Battle! Farewell, Eternal Friends, which is a film that sees all of the Dinosaur-themed Rangers team-up with the Go-Busters (Beast Morphers), meaning, in addition to the Mighty Morphin Red Ranger, the episode could possibly also feature Rangers from the Dino Thunder and Dino Charge teams.

While unconfirmed, THS believes Dino Charge actors Brennan Mejia (Tyler Navarro/Red), Yoshi Sudarso (Koda/Blue), and Davi Santos (Chase Randall/Black) will also appear alongside St. John and the Beast Morphers cast as they've already been spotted in New Zealand.

Awesome! I actually rooted for Jason’s Red ranger over Tommy’s white ranger back in the day. Always thought it was bs that zordon was like Jason your not the leader anymore Tommy is outta nowhere lol

@whynot - yep!!! I always thought Jason should have become the White Ranger and Tommy should have stayed the Green Ranger.

@whynot - Jason is the best imo. Armored Red Ranger could mop the floor with anyone. He will always be the leader imo. Actually met him at New York a comic con last year and I straight up told him he could come back and make his presence felt and be that leader again. Sure Tommy was fine but Jason is the GOAT when it comes to Power Rangers.

@AnthonyVonGeek - Jason was always the Cybclops to Tommy’s Wolverine.

The other 4 returned and were still rangers? I didn't know that. I have to check it out just for the nostalgia high

@MyCoolYoung - Sadly that is impossible since Thuy Trang aka Trini the Yellow Ranger died years ago in 2001 in a car accident. Also as far as I remember Zach hasn't been back since he left the show with Jason, Billy hasn't been around since ZEO or so, and Kim hasn't been around since her cameo in the Turbo movie with Jason.

@pesmerga44 - damn talk about a gut punch. I actually misread the article I thought it was saying Jason would be the last of the 5 to come back but it said he's the first of the 5. So that's my mistake

@pesmerga44 - kim made a cameo in the 2017 movie. Billy probably wont return either since he left due to harassment over his homosexuality.

@pesmerga44 - Kim and Tommy had a "blink and you'll miss it" cameo in the recent Power Rangers movie.

@Origame - I didn't see you'd already commented on Kim's cameo.

Billy could return. He pitched a Power Rangers reunion for Netflix last year. He still sells merch from his time on the show. But that dude has had a pretty rough life post-Rangers.

@rds130 - i dont know. If there are none of the same people behind the scenes that are involved then yes i could see him coming back. But i think there are people around that have been involved since the beginning.

@Origame - I actually talked to Billy last year at ComicCon New Mexico, about if he would come back to do the Shattered Grid story. Really great guy. He is all about if and would do it BUT he is part of a union. If they pay him union prices he’s down. It’s just he no longer wants to earn $500 and sent on his way again. IMO, they should get paid at least a Million each in this world of comic book movies.

@Origame - As far as I know it wasn't the cast that was the problem it was the crew or the director(s) that were mistreating him. I could have sworn that the cast especially the main cast were supportive of him from what I remember. I have read he does the Power Rangers convention so he has either moved from what happened or he just needs the money.

@MutantEquality - doing shattered grid seems to imply that its a different production team, considering that story is significantly darker than anything that happens in anything in the main show.

@pesmerga44 - ...i know. Thats what i said. That he'll only do the reunion if it isnt the same people behind the scenes.

@Origame - I actually got to talk to each one of the cast member last year at various comic cons to get my Shattered Grid comic signed. They all had varying enthusiasm (except for JDF, he will do anything power rangers). But for Billy to do any “official” power ranger stuff it has to be union. Again, doesn’t want to get paid $500 in a world of comic book movies. Power Rangers has a lot of nostalgia power. He’ll do it, just treat them right.

Have they Americanized the Pirate Rangers yet?

@Reeds2Much - Sadly they did and they butchered the concept so so bad. It was called 'Super Megaforce'

They should stop the live action show and make an Animated Serie inspired by the recent comics .
