Captain Picard Actor Patrick Stewart Might Have Just Teased A Possible Cameo In STAR TREK: DISCOVERY

In a recent interview, Patrick Stewart, who played Captain Picard in Star Trek The Next Generation, subtly suggested a possible cameo in the CBS series Star Trek: Discovery. But, how would that even work?

The Star Trek franchise has come a long way since the days of The Next Generation, but Patrick Stewart's Captain Jean-Luc Picard remains a fan-favorite character and one of the most popular
inhabitants of The Enterprise's iconic captain's chair.

Now, it seems the beloved captain might actually make an appearance in CBS' current series Star Trek: Discovery - at least, that's what Stewart appeared to imply during an interview with Red Carpet News TV.

Speaking to the publication, Stewart was asked if he had seen the latest show to which the actor responded coyly, "No, I haven't. But I may have good cause to look at it very soon."

It's an incredibly vague response, but that hasn't stopped the internet from running wild with speculation that Stewart will somehow return to the franchise in Star Trek: Discovery. Of course, how the series would handle the character's appearance is the big question.

Star Trek: Discovery is set ten years before the events of the classic series, but season one ended on a cliffhanger with the crew receiving a distress call from the Enterprise, helmed by Christopher Pike. Now given Stewart's age it would obviously be hard to have him play a younger version of Picard, so are we talking about some sort of time travel? Let the speculation begin!

Star Trek: Discovery is now available to stream via CBS All Access in the United States.

He could be referring to the Trek film from Tarantino. Having to refresh on Trek for an upcoming role makes sense, but the film is a far more likely subject.

Did anyone know the actress playing Rose in Star Wars had to quit Instagram because she kept getting harassed? I get not liking the movie, I understand, but why bring the person just doing their job into it? It honestly makes me sick. And to all of you who would or have done things like that, BE BETTER, because you make all of us look bad!

I don’t understand Paramount’s fascination with that earlier time period, from “Enterprise” to “Discovery” to Abrams rebooted Trek. Give me a new series set in the Next Generation/Deep Space 9 period again, now that all the previous shows there are over. It can’t support 3 shows at once and a film series, but 1 show following the flagship with both discoveries of new phenomenon as well as all of the political intrigue of an already existing Federation would be awesome, and finally treading new ground again.

As long as it's not on a holodeck with Riker and Troi. Fool me once...

we are way waaaaaaay past damage control now. there is a movie series and a show that both ignore what came before and each other. so everything is [frick]ed. the only way to fix all of this is to reboot period.

If you're going to make people pay for Star Trek at least make it a version people want to see.

I treat each new iteration of Trek as a new timeline - despite the endless, crazy, illogical need for them to prequel everything. That way, nothing's broken. My love for Trek remains intact. (I might amend this comment post Tarantino. "You know what they call a replicator meal on Rigel 4?")

He just meant he's probably going to drop dead soon, so he's got good reason to get around to everything he wants to do.
