Is "Next Generation" in the New Star Trek Movie?

Does this have anything to do with Leonard Nimoy's, surprise hush surprise hush, cameo in the film?

Latino Review broke the story. Apparently someone from LR was covering the IDW panel at the Wonder Con over the weekend and had this to report:

"Today at the IDW Comics panel at WonderCon, they discussed the Transformers, G.I. Joe and Star Trek prequel comics. When it came time to talk about Star trek's prequel comics, they were talking about how the Next Generation cast plays an important role in the story of the prequel and that in the last issue, (issue 4 I believe) it ends in a major cliffhanger with Nero that leads right into the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie.

"The end of issue 4 is a cliffhanger and is going to continue in the first few minutes of the movie."

Right after that was said, another writer (or artist) said that part of the movie will take place with the Next Generation cast and to look out for that. Another guy on the panel gave him a quick "uh oh" look.

After that, someone from the audience asked "So are members of the Next Generation cast in the new Trek movie?" to which the same guy replied, "I really cannot say anything about that."

Oops! I think you already did!

So that's news to me. I never thought of J.J. Abrams tying in the Next Generation cast to this remake of the Trek universe. Do the Next Generation guys have something to do with Nero's appearance as the villain in the new Trek movie? Because Nero is a character in the prequel comics with the Next generation cast.

Does the cliffhanger and the beginning of the Trek movie involve the Next generation cast? And who in the cast would return?"

Very interesting. Does this have anything to do with Leonard Nimoy's, surprise hush surprise hush, cameo in the film? Only time will tell.

So now even the Next Generation cast is pretending like this is an actual prequel.
As much as they want it to be, just look at the film. It's not the same Enterprise or anything, so it cannot be a prequel.

Obviously, they're trying to tie in Old Spock and the TNG crew into it to make it a prequel, but if it is, it's pretty obviously an "elsworlds" kind of prequel, if I can steal that term from DC comics.

Next they'll be telling us that Q makes a surprise guest appearance as well. Whatever, this movie will probably end up being bad ass anyway. Only the Trekies will really care.

You cannot run a story all over again, why should we every couple of years see another prequel to prequel to sequel. Okay, let's to another movie but we should try to create another story around other actors. I adore Next generation because I grew with this generation. But the fact is, all actors from TNG are a little bit old, we need fresh faces.

Isn't nero in one of the last next generation movies? This movie will prolly begin at the climax of next generation vs nero, then into the enterprises first adventure. Nemoy will probably play spocks father, dissaproving of spock's actions, ect. ect. just like old times.
As a comicbook nerd, im used to prequels. Remember when EVERY title was putting out a #0 ish and whole alternatively titled books. They werent always origin stories but hey, dont interrupt!

Acording to IMDb;
"Nero is the leader of the Romulan forces opposing the crew of the Enterprise, though he may not necessarily be a Romulan himself (pictures show him resembling a Romulan/Reman hybrid)."

(On, why the Romulans are bald) "This was done to differentiate them from the Vulcans. It should be noted, however, that the bald Romulans are supposedly time travelers, and the bald heads and tattoo patterns could be the trademark of a military unit."

"Nero's time travel in the movie may have affected the timeline, introducing the canon discrepancies that some purists have noticed."

And also; "Reports indicate that the old Spock (Nimoy) is from the 24th Century, and that he interacts with his younger self via time travel."
