Is the new Star Trek cast, girly?

yeah i agree, although the trailer looks good, the cast do sort of seem like they belong in the oc instead of a spaceship! i know they had to go young because its supposed to be theyr first mission but did they have to go so young LOOKING?...seriously, chris pine looks about 19 frickin years old..id give him 20 at a push

Nowadays, the "younger audience" you are refering to doesn't give 2 shytes about the Trekverse. They want Bey Blade and whatever the hell those little fighting ball things that morph into creature like things are called. Bhudokan or some crap like that. I don't know. Goodness, I sound like i'm in my 60's or something; "damn whipper snappers get off my lawn" as I stand on my front porch in my underwear waving my cane at a couple of 10 year olds trying to play tag.

Anyway, if the younger audience is truly interested in the classic series then CHECK OUT THE CLASSIC SERIES. Don't just do a half-assed reboot to make it seem more likeable to the kiddies. Besides, the OC age group their going for here isn't going to see this movie. Ya know who is? The 25+ age group that grew up on this stuff and is enamored with it. Including the 52 yr old that lives in moms house (because she died and he inherited it and finally moved out of the basement) who have been watching the show for 40 years and won't let it go and who says "What the hell is this garbage? What have they done to you Uhura?!?!"

That's whos going to see this movie. I doubt almost completely, that any self respecting teenager is going to (with free will) fork over the cash to see this flick. I just don't see that happening. It's possibly the dorkiest set of fans ever to be created...Trekkies. No self-respecting teenager wants that stigma.

I have it, and I like it. So i'm going to see it. I'm not going to drag my woman or children along. Just me, and maybe my dad and brother. Because we like this stuff. But other than that, little kids, teenagers and 21 yr olds who don't know anything about Star Trek (which, nowadays is unbelievable, unless you live in a hovel) don't give a crap about this franchise, and probably never will. Unless you grew up watching this, or were introduced to it at some point in your life enough to follow along, I doubt you'd see it.

I am glad Nimoy is there. He's freakin' awesome. Ya know, Nichele Nichols once said that she spoke to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and he was big fan of the show. I thought that was freakin' awesome. Martin Luther King Jr liked Star Trek, and Patrick Stewart digs Beavis and Butthead, freakin' sweet.

TRIBBLES! YaaaaaaaaaaY! God that sounds awful when I read it. The Trouble With Tribbles is classic. I'm not toally against the original show, it was absolutely groundbreaking, and is STILL a good show, even 40 years later. But TNG just cemented my fanhood for me.

Going to conventions in the late 80's Early 90's and meeting the casts of both shows plsu the movies was awesome. There are only a hand full of people I haven't met, including Shatner, Nimoy and Johnathan Frakes. But other than that, I actually got to spend time with a good portion of the casts. Most of them were pretty awesome people with the exception of Koenig, he's kind of odd, and Marina Sirtis, she was just a total douche nozzle. Couldn't have been more of a bitch if she tried. Whether that's just her demeanor and I was like 12 yrs old or whatever, but she just came off as snobb as can be. Ah the "perks" of having your dad be the "Captain" of the U.S.S. Columbus and doing security detail for old conventions here in the city. Was quite nice at the time. Then fans just got more and more wierd, so we stopped going. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

I do think the choice for Scotty is funny. he better have a Scottish accent or im done. lol
