J.J. Abrams' sequel to his critically acclaimed reboot of the Star Trek franchise is set to begin filming early next year, but one of the biggest questions concerning the film that have yet to be answered is who will be the villain(s). Recent rumors suggest that the infamous Klingons will be making an appearance, but the following may give a huge hint concerning the direction the film will go in. Variety is reporting that Benicio del Toro (Sin City, Savages) has met with Abrams about playing the primary villain in the sequel. An offer is expected to be made soon, possibly by the end of the weekend.
Though no offer has been delivered, sources close to the project say Benicio Del Toro is expected to be offered the part soon, maybe by weekend's end.
Insiders say Del Toro has met with Abrams but doesn't know what the role is, in order to keep in a secret. Par and Skydance had no comment on the casting.
