STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Adds SUPER Actor Rainn Wilson As Original Series Character Harry Mudd

The official Star Trek: Discovery Twitter account has revealed that Emmy-nominated actor Rainn Wilson will appear in the upcoming show as a character that will no doubt be familiar to fans of the original 1960s TV series, Harry Mudd.

The "charismatic interstellar con-man", who was played by Roger C. Carmel back in the day, can be utilized here because Discovery is set in the same "Prime" Timeline as the original show, as opposed to the "Kelvin" timeline established in J.J. Abrams' big-screen reboot.

Star Trek: Discovery will also star Sonequa Martin-Green in the lead role, as well as James Frain (Sarek), Doug Jones (Lt. Saru), Anthony Rapp (Lt. Stamets), Michelle Yeoh (Starfleet Captain Georgiou), and Shazad Latif as a Klingon officer named Kol. The show still hasn't been given an official premiere date.

He's great and doesn't get nearly enough exposure. Most people only really know him as Dwight.

@MrDandy - I think part of it is because of that terrible show he starred in as a racist detective. Hard to bounce back from that kind of thing sometimes.

HahahahaHA! There's not much that could make me watch anything remotely related to star trek (not since Alice Eve's Trailer Boobs) but casting just about anyone from The Office is a step in the right direction. Maybe I'll give it a look. If they cast Jim as the co-crewman who is always putting this fella's space-gun in jelly.

Good casting choice and glad to see the character return but I'm not digging this whole two timelines thing. The current films are pretty good, the originals are great but they had their day. They should have kept this in the same time line of the current films. would make for cross over possibilities and wouldn't be mucking up an already convoluted continuity.
