Take a look at the costume designs below: Spock's Volcano Suit illustrated by by Keith Christensen, Kirk and Khan's Space Jump Suits illustrated by Constantine Sekeris and Keith Christensen, Klingon costumes by Constantine Sekeris and alien designs by Neville Page, Michael Kaplan and Constantine Sekeris.

Film Sketchr has posted some concept art, and conducted an interview with artist, Andrea Dopaso.

Here is an excerpt:
What designs did you contribute for the film?
I worked in the "Red Planet" development, for the opening of the film, dreaming alien vegetation, and also in the process of developing ideas for the Klingon Planet.

Scott wanted to achieved a red warm, seductive atmosphere for the primitive civilization of the Red Planet. But for the Klingon world he was looking for a planet devastated not only by continuous war, but the nature of the planet itself, consumed by toxic eruptions and chemicals spills of all sorts. This created a miserable condition for the life of its inhabitants.

Scott Chambliss (Production Designer) on the look of the Red Planet:
"Everybody wanted to do some blissful tropical island planet, but nobody wanted it to look like a standard blissful tropical environment we're familiar with here on Earth, because that doesn't feel like you're going any place special, it just feels like vacation. So I thought, "Well, we don't want it to be green." I constantly go to Hawaii, and one of the things I love there is lipstick bamboo. Portions of the trunks are this beautiful magenta. I took a photograph of timber bamboo, a beautiful jungle of it, and played with it in Photoshop and turned it really deep ruby red, and it was beautiful. I thought, "My God, if we put that with the turquoise water of Fiji and then pure white sand, what does that feel like?" That's when the ball started rolling."

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organisation has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

WAIT! What if the alien vegetation were just a bunch of trenchcoats! They can send out lens flares as a defense mechanism!

Alice Eve is hot but why do people always post that annoying gif?

Also, wtf happened to that Iron Man deep space suit? Lol they marketed it so big, it didn't even end up in the movie.

@ MrYurMomm - Abrams (like Nolan) has taken the fan franchise and created easily digestible, exciting films, that upon closer reflection don't stand the test of time...

& how lame is it that Abrams gets commended for the lush red world explored at the beginning, when the artists clearly deserve a bigger shout-out
- a good example of hollywood failing upwards - he gets the plaudits and future job prospects, that his level of skill may not justify, resulting in future poor showings for fans.

Goddamnit Nail did you really have to post that horrible screaming Alice Eve pic? It's the worst shot in the movie but the one shown the most.
