Star Trek 4, aiming for a 2020 release, remains the priority. This begs the question, when will Tarantino's sequel hit theaters? According to franchise veteran Simon Pegg, it will not be for a while.
Star Trek Beyond writer and actor Simon Pegg has been making press rounds as of late due to his involvement in
Mission: Impossible - Fallout. It is no surprise that the talent has been tackled with questions regarding the future of
Star Trek as a whole. Regarding the Tarantino produced sequel Pegg had a very rational answer, citing
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood for its slow movement. Furthermore, Pegg does worry whether the cast will be fit enough to pull it off once Tarantino is available.
[Quentin] came into Bad Robot and pitched it and it’s been put in the bank. I think he had us in mind when he came up with the idea; he likes the new cast. But he’s going to be so busy with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood that I can’t see him doing it for five or six years, by which time we might be too old anyway.
Interestingly, if Tarantino intents to direct the film, which has not been confirmed, it will be his tenth feat as a director. The creative has been very outspoken of his retirement plans, stating that his tenth feature will be his last. Would this be a fitting sendoff for the auteur?
