LOL, though sounds like sour grapes to me from the fanatical die-hards...... I love being a fan of the genre but I am open minded to change. Lord knows you can't have Star Trek without time travel and reality/universe altering themes to go along with it. Even the canon series pokes subtle fun at it especially when beings like Q acknowledges the fact that there are other realities/timelines other than the ones normally shown in the series/movies - even Picard was given an eye-opener about it during the last episode of the TNG series when he realized the "chicken and the egg" dilemma.

Either I am waaay too serious about something that pokes fun at it or my mind has finally snapped because I've been on duty for 48 hrs straight.

The original time line still exsist. Its like Spock called it,"...a parallel universe".

hehe way to go original Enterprise!

Meh, the NuEnterprise is just too big, how can they have a starship as big as the Enterprise E on the 23 century?

That is hilarious. I still like the Abrams-verse as well as the original time line (minus the Enterprise show).

Since they changed the timeline what's to say Romulus was destroyed in the new timeline, which started this whole thing. Space time continuum is tricky.

@Rodimus9 -They actually mention that Romulus was alive and well in the current continuity, but Nero's family is still lost forever.

A "Trekkie" is someone who enjoys all things Star Trek, knows the characters, has seen all the movies and may even dress as a Trek character for Halloween.

A "Trekker" is someone who still lives with their parents, deep inside thinks Star Trek is real, lives their entire life according to Star Fleet regulations and wears their Star Fleet uniform to jury duty. More than likely a "Trekker" is a virgin.

During a Star Trek convention where Gene Roddenberry used the term "trekkies" to describe fans of the show, he was corrected by a fan that stood up and yelled "Trekkers!" Gene Roddenberry allegedly responded with "No, it's 'Trekkies.' I should know — I invented the thing."

Hahaha. With a touch of Looney Tunes effects. Funny.

Seriously, I'm a fan of the original series, and wasn't all for the mucking of the Star Trek universe, especially destroying planet Vulcan. I'm really surprised with people's approval of Abram's Star Trek meaning we still haven't seen the official origin of Star Trek. This movie should have been faithful and stuck to the source without these drastic changes. I'm very picky and particular with certain things enjoyed by the masses, but then again, that's the story of my life.

@DrBear, potato-potahto.... whatever - for argument's sake, it looks like you have it the other way around.

"One Trekkie came by and felt compelled to explain, while paying for his Mr. Spock computer image, that he was actually a Trekker (a rational fan). Whereas, he said, a Trekkie worships anything connected with Star Trek and would sell his or her mother for a pair of Spock ears." ..source: Star Trek Lives! (1976 Star Trek convention, U.S.S. Enterprise by David H. Ahl)

Nimoy once stated he preferred "Trekker" - so in essence... to twits who keep go ape in regards to the Trekkie-vs-Trekker debate... can pretty much end up unintentionally insulting regardless of how you flip the definition to your liking.

Personally, the easiest label for something/someone that scarily rationalizes and actually tries to define those according to their own twisted logic can be boiled down to two three non-made up, politically correct words for both definitions: "Obsessed Fanatical Fan".

@skullboy... they DID stick to the actual source regardless of how much they changed the story and characters: time travel, alternate realities, constant change, and the drama in the "human condition" in the face of adversity. That was what Star Trek was when it gets down to the nuts and bolts of the thing beyond the characters. Abram's Star Trek had EVERY single formula in it that made it a welcome addition to the ever-changing/evolving mythos in Trek regardless of the small inconsistencies (which really - even in Classic Trek and TNG Universe messed up timeline due constant paradox the shows dealt with - while trying to be consistently straight and narrow in it's history - still had those similar inconsistencies that made it Star Trek).

For most rational fans, Star Trek was always about change, evolution, and the exploration of alternative possibilities. It was one of those shows that made me take up a career in science, technology, and medicine (among other things).
