Zachary Quinto Speculates On The Future Of Star Trek; Knows Little About Status Of Sequel!

The actor, best known for his role as Spock in the recently rebooted franchise, shares his thoughts on what we might end up seeing in the highly anticipated sequel, but is just as much in the dark in regards to its status as we are...

Originally expected to be released in the summer of 2012, the status of a sequel to Star Trek (which was a hit with fans, critics and at the box office) is pretty uncertain, despite the belief that a script is currently being worked on. Director J.J. Abrams is expected to return, but that also is far from confirmed. Recently, actor Zachary Quinto stopped to chat about the status of the sequel, speculating where he thinks it'll go in future and what he actually knows of its current status. Many thanks to Trek Movie for the following.

"I think there was an implicit understanding that we would do it again and we would all be excited when that time came, but that it probably wouldn’t be for a minute. You can’t go through something so sweeping and so powerful and expect it to begin again right away. I think everyone was cool and let it settle and we all went off to do other stuff and now we are gearing up to get back to it eventually at some point."

"By the time the movie comes out it will be like 3 years later – almost 4 years later. So I think there is something nice about that. it gives people a chance to breathe. Both the people involved in creating the story and the people engaging the story. And it makes people miss it a little bit. We had a lot of good will around that first movie so I feel like people are going to be ready for that second one when it comes out. It’s not like "already? really? again"

"I know those guys are working really hard on it – JJ, Bob, Alex, Damon. It is going to be awesome right? I have to know that with them all in a room. I have heard some rumblings, but I haven’t seen anything."

"His planet was destroyed so there is a good place to start. The onus he feels to rebuild his race to support the reminder of his culture and the conflicts that can arise therein. His relationship with Uhura and being pulled in more than one direction emotionally is potential goldmine of drama."

"I imagine we are going to pick up right where we left off, but it could be a completely different timeline. They have basically created a device where we could go anywhere. We could be in a parallel universe, we could be in a parallel time. It is the joy of science fiction. Vulcan could be back, who knows."

@ReverendJonnyNemo.
I loved how that "sucked" video starts as #1; the lens flares. Something the crew worked hard at creating an replicating, including in the pure CG shots (where there were no actual lenses at all, of course) LOL

Too bad 'Heroes' went down the shitter like most other shows after their first season; I would honestly prefer to see a Heroes-reboot that starts off right after the 1st season than another Star-Trek movie if I had to choose. That show had so much potential!

He wasn't a good Spock. Never thought Nimoy's voice was so important, but I appreciate it now. Qunito's voice was too feminine, to put it nicely.

It wasn't a good 'Trek movie. Abrams and the writers do so much talking but produce crap with plot holes. If Abrams and the team wanted Star Wars, he should have done something else. What we saw on the screen wasn't 'Trek. And don't get me started on the art direction....ugghhh.

I thought it was a good Star Trek movie and all the characters except Spock and Uhura were great.

He's just not Spock. He doesn't act like Spock, even with the Whole alternative timeline he doesn't act Spock like... and Oh my Sarek wasn't at all like Sarek either.
