Star Wars Episode VII is still well over a year away and the plot is currently Disney's worse kept secret with leaks coming in every week or so. Now it's Badass Digest writer Devin Faraci's turn to give us some new details on the film's plot. Be warned though, if you're not a fan of even the mildest of spoilers, this isn't for you...
According to Faraci the film will open with the iconic Star Wars crawl but rather than the shot moving to a spaceship flying through space the  camera will pan to a severed hand grasping a (Jedi) lightsaber. The weapon eventually lands on a desert planet where it is discovered by (eventual heroes) John Boyega and Daisy Ridley. Recognising it to be a Jedi relic they plan to return it to it's owners, taking them into space where they meet Han Solo and Chewbacca piloting a ship that is not the Millenium Falcon.
The pair recognise the lightsaber as Luke Skywalker's
, however they haven't seen the Jedi since the events of Return Of The Jedi 30 years ago. This leads the film's protagonists on a search for Luke.
As for the film's villains, while he hasn't mentioned any names, Faraci claims that nefarious forces are creating a super weapon on an icy planet. The weapon is much more powerful than the original's Death Star, capable of destroying entire solar systems!
If true it looks like we'll be in for one odd ride when November of 2015 roles around. What do you think of the details? True or not false and regardless of their validity, do they interest you? Sign off your thoughts on the matter below!

How in the hell would a severed hand survive the heat of re-entry and crashing to Earth? This is a sometimes reliable source, but sounds like BS to me.

If the next scene is these guys taking the hand to Luke and him saying, "My hand! I thought I'd never see this again..." then we might all want to start begging George Lucas to come back. :P

Good god people are actually buying this? A floating hand in space is an awful plot device to bring the characters together and start the story. It made me cringe reading it lol. The guy who wrote the article on badass didn't even list it as a rumour either. Also it's already known that Ford has the Falcon seeing how he's been shooting his scenes on the damn thing.

I'm calling bull on that article, the writer and source,

Lose the hand (pun yes)...have them find the lightsaber (since each one is handmade (oops another hand joke)...and then we're in business.

True or not, these details sound fine to me. I can dig it.

(Sorry, each one being handmade means it would be recognizable.)

I have a bad feeling about this.

I hope that they don't ruin Star Wars any worse than the prequels.

Maybe it really is Luke's hand, you can get it cheap apparently...

Return a lightsaber? Sounds like a bit of a flimsy reason to head out on a space voyage.

If it's a relic, chances are it doesn't have an owner anymore.
It'd make much more sense if interested parties came looking for the lightsaber.

Eh, whatever.

Sounds about as good as the Boyega, Ridley rescue-romance plot. Both sound as if this film is being created directly for the Sci-Fi channel.

the whole 'hunt for luke skywalker' thing has been rumoured for a while and I like the sound of it, but the hand in space sounds BS and the super-super death star-esque weapon just sounds like lazy storytelling

I cannot wait for the finale where they face Robot Spider with Chewbacca head.

I glad you guys are pointing out how dumb this sounds.

God help us all if this turns out to be real.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I can't even describe the amount of BS in this article. That sounds so bad. Plus that is a very gruesome opening for a Star Wars film.

A weapon that destroys a solar system??

No!

Also, love the pic of what is supposed to be a prop of Luke's severed hand, and it's the left hand, instead of the right. Why even display that?

Doomsday weapons are so lame. I hope JJ has something better than that. At least Lucas tried to explain how the sith manipulated politics to create the Empire... Just poor execution...
