Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger is reportedly in stable condition following emergency open-heart surgery.
Sources told TMZ that the 70-year-old actor and former California governor checked in to Cedars-Sinai on Thursday for a catheter valve replacement, a somewhat experimental procedure that resulted in him developing complications.
Responding to TMZ's initial report, Schwarzenegger's entourage offered more specific details regarding the surgery:
"...to replace a pulmonic valve that was originally replaced due to a congenital heart defect in 1997. That 1997 replacement valve was never meant to be permanent and has outlived its life expectancy, so he chose to replace it yesterday through a less-invasive catheter valve replacement. During that procedure, an open-heart surgery team was prepared ... in case the catheter procedure was unable to be performed."
According to Schwarzenegger's rep, the Terminator's first words after waking up: "I'm back."
Hopefully he's back and better than ever, as Schwarzenegger revealed earlier this month that shooting for Terminator 6 is set to begin in June. The new film will be the beginning of a new trilogy with Deadpool director Tim Miller at the helm.
