Disney Takes Tron: Legacy Viral Campaign to the Next Level

Bruce Boxleitner and Garrett Hedlund appear, in character, at a mock Encom press conference in San Francisco that included protests and a jump from a helicopter!

If you've been following the Tron: Legacy viral marketing campaign, then you know Disney has been working hard to make it the most unique, immersive campaign for a movie ever. The campaign started at the San Diego Comic-Con last year with a scavenger hunt that led to a real-life recreation of Flynn's Arcade from the original Tron and a sneak peek at the updated light cycle. The new round of viral madness kicked off with a binary countdown that led to the revealing of a new still and IMAX event, followed by the release of a set of new stills.

Now, Disney's taken it to the next level by hosting an Encom press conference--Encom is the company that Kevin Flynn (played by Jeff Bridges) worked for and against in the original Tron--during WonderCon that featured Bruce Boxleitner taking the stage as Alan Bradley, his character from Tron. Bradley was joined on stage by another original Tron character, Lora Baines (Cindy Morgan), now his wife. The press conference was eventually interrupted by the "Flynn Lives" group, who claim that Flynn is still alive and that Encom knows something about his disappearance.

Garrett Hedlund also made an appearance as Kevin's son, Sam Flynn, who crashes the Encom press conference by skydiving onto the stage after jumping out of a helicopter!

@Antonio: The music is a little weird and the graphics are, obviously, out-dated, but the original Tron was a lot of fun! You should check it out!
