In an interview with Collider, writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz talk about their work on Disney XD's upcoming animated series TRON: Uprising (which takes place between the two TRON films). The duo reveal what they were excited about showing in the animated series that they couldn't in TRON: Legacy, while Kitsis also (briefly) discusses the two's involvement with the proposed sequel to Legacy. For Kitsis and Horowitz's comments on the season one finale of Once Upon A Time, click the link below.

On Exploring More Of The TRON World In Uprising:
Horowitz: "In writing Tron: Legacy, we had two hours to tell a story and a world that was so exciting and rich to explore. Tron: Uprising has been an amazing opportunity to explore the time between Legacy, when we see Klu overthrow Flynn and Sam’s arrival at the beginning, and take that time period and really go out into the Grid and see what happens."

Kitsis: "When we wrote the movie, you would see a scene where they would pass through other sectors, and we always wanted to explore one of those sectors. So, for us, Tron: Uprising really explores the Grid, what it means to be a Program, what it means to be a Program going from living under Flynn to living under Klu, and we really get to dig deep into the world. This will allow us to really explore it in a deeper way. Not deeper than the movie, but we really get to explore the little sections of the Grid that we didn’t have time to show you."

On Their Current Involvement With TRON 3:
Kitsis: "We were actually beginning to write the sequel, and then Once Upon A Time happened and we had to step off. Adam and I have been made co-producers of it, and Disney hired a great writer, Dave DiGilio. We’ve seen the first draft and we’re very excited."

You and others talk like there was an abundance of Tron in the original! The movies have always been about Flynn.

Tron 1 WAS good for its time, was based using the games at the time.

Tron 2 was pointless, it should have been more like:

I like both movies a lot. It will be very interesting to see what they do with Quorra, being a digital form in the real world. Also to find out the status of Flynn. I look forward to third movie.

Lets see some more action in the next movie, I thought the movie started off really well but wayyy to little action and wayyy to short of a movie...In other words "Change the scheme alter the mood, electrify the boys and girls if you'd be so kind".

Hopefully Disney will go back to the original magic of the first Tron. I agree with the other poster Tron 2 was nothing but a giant Daft Punk music video.

My love for Tron Legacy was borne out of my love for Jeff Bridges. His scenes made that movie. And of course there were the Lebowski-isms. Call 'em lame if ya like, but I loved that. However, I'm still at a loss for what CLU's ultimate plan was. How was that giant what-have-you going to emerge in the real world? And were we going to see the US and China fighting the computer folks?

Still I'd love another Tron. But I'd like a digital epic that truly touches on the current electronic age. I wanna see digital kingdoms throughout the internet each with their own unique look. I want to see users on their smart phones and such. Have some new version of the MCP or something, I don't care. And yes, Jeff Bridges and more Daft Punk dammit!

I liked how Legacy explained the change in tone between the two movies. Why Legacy felt darker.

I honestly really want to see a third Tron movie, just because...well, I want more. Tron: Legacy was surely pretty entertaining visually, but y'know, there wasn't enough story (and Tron) in it. However, it has managed to get a lot of aspects in it right (the tone, the music, the designs, and even to the small things such as the facial capture of Bruce Boxleitner as Tron in that very brief scene, which I'd love to see more, et cetera), and I want to see another movie so all those aspects can be more fleshed out. I can see some ways to do it; perhaps, Dillinger, Jr. as Sark 2.0? The integrated Kevin Flynn becomes a new version of MCP? Or, whatever...just make it happen.

@SaintSpidey67Re - I wish I could report comments for being too awesome.

Tron Legacy was amazing. One of the best movies I've seen. As a fan of Tron BEFORE Legacy came out, it was what I wanted. If you didn't like it...well, [frick] off. Lol
