Tron: Legacy Sequel Already In The Works

Months before the movie even appears in theaters Disney are apparently at work on the sequel...

THR are exclusively reporting that even though Tron: Legacy isn’t due to hit screens until December, Disney are already putting a sequel on the fast track.

According to them, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, the Lost writers/co-executive producers who worked on Legacy, have begun writing a sequel...

"No details have been released because it is so early in the process. Notwithstanding the question of whether the movie will be a hit, other topics to ponder are whether the sequel will focus on spinoff characters or center on a new adventure set in the “Tron” world. Insiders have suggested that Kitsis and Horowitz are working on a way to round the story into a trilogy."

I guess Disney really believe in their movie! No word on whether director Joseph Kosinski or the cast members will return, though options were placed in the original deals.

I have no problem with this. It's a guaranteed success already. The marketing for it is brilliant, it's an effects-heavy blockbuster (which we all know people FLOCK to), and it's got plenty of star power.

I wouldn't doubt that they are already planning the final in the trilogy. The ending of this film will scream for one...that is if the script floating around right now is correct.

Hey I agree, nothing wrong with being confident. I'm sure it will make a pile of cash..good news for the studio either way, BUT, nothing is guaranteed that it will be a good movie yet. Look at Clash Of The Titans. No doubt after its opening weekend we will be getting a sequel to that shite whether we want one or not!

As long as the film is good, hey, I could go for a sequel. The trailer was great, though great trailers can be deceiving (cough, Clash, cough).

As long as Bridges is in the third movie it's all good.

This is good news indeed. I just wish that they hadn't taken so long to make a sequel in the first place. I understand that the first film's effects are outdated by today's standards, but at the time, I was amazed at the films beauty and always waited in anticipation to watch Flynn go off another adventure into the computer world.

But after twenty-eight years or so, Tron: Legacy has finally been made, and with it's beatiful CGI and visual effects, I know that the wait will be worth it.

While the original Tron may look "outdated" by today's standards, it was a showcase for "cutting edge state of the art" in its day. Things change a lot in nearly 30 years. Come back in 2035, and people will be talking about the quaint and dated effects of "Tron: Legacy". I just hope that the movie itself is as enjoyable as the original was, and that the video game is as fun as the original video game was.

I hope that the plans here are for a legitimate sequel, and not one of these direct-to-DVD specials that Disney loves pumping out to milk more money out of parents.
