Amy Pascal Is Committed To Keeping SPIDER-MAN In The MCU Following The Release Of FAR FROM HOME

There's been a lot of concern among fan that the wall-crawler will swing out of Kevin Feige's hands following the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home but it sounds like we may not have to worry...

We were never made privy to the full details of Sony Pictures' deal with Marvel Studios but it's widely thought that the two parties will be talking about what comes next once Spider-Man: Far From Home is released. The success of Venom has led many fans to wonder if Sony might think about taking the hero back but Amy Pascal appears to be committed to keeping him in the MCU.

Asked during a recent interview what will happen when the initial deal expires, the producer said this about a possible future where Spider-Man and The Avengers go their separate ways: "I think about crying. I can only hope for a future where things work out."

"I've known Kevin since he was Avi's very, very quiet assistant, who for many years sat in that room listening to us and being so much smarter than any of us without any of us realizing. I will say that working with Marvel has been one of the highlights of my professional career."

That's got to be a good sign and Vanity Fair notes that if Sony is hoping to have Tom Holland's Peter Parker meet up with Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock, it "would be years in the
future, after Holland’s Marvel contract expires." That's very interesting indeed and may put the brakes on a crossover and possibly open the door to another actor being cast as Peter in the Spider-Verse.

Time will tell how things pan out but right now, the future looks bright for Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: Far From Home's first trailer!

Romance For Aunt May

The trailer kicks off with what sounds like quite a cute exchange between Peter and Aunt May as we learn that she's supportive of his actions as Spider-Man.

However, things take a rather unexpected turn when Happy Hogan turns up and it instantly becomes clear that he's now romantically involved with the wall-crawler's aunt. See, while we all expected Tony Stark of wanting to get up to no good with her, it was Happy we should have been keeping an eye on!

Travelling Overseas

Heading overseas on what we now know to be a school trip in Europe, it's said that Peter chooses to leave his Spider-Man costume behind because he wishes to just focus on having some fun.

There are then shots of a number of international locations and it's said that we're treated to quite a bit of romantic chemistry between Peter and Zendaya's Michelle (a.k.a. "MJ").

Nick Fury Meets Spider-Man

As Peter and Ned chill out in their hotel room, the wall-crawler's hapless best friend is knocked unconscious after being hit in the neck with a dart. Who is responsible? None other than former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury! He's said to be very happy to finally meet Spider-Man and despite the fact that the young hero is on "vacation," it turns out that he has a job for him...

Familiar Foes Presented In New Ways

We're then treated to some cool shots of Spidey's new suits before it's revealed that Fury wants Peter's help to battle "The Elementals." These creatures have been popping up all over Europe and we catch glimpses of ones made out of sand (Zephyr), water (Hydron), and fire (Magnum).

Yes, these characters are from the comic books and included in a very unique way here.

Mysterio!

Peter isn't the only one trying to help, though; S.H.I.E.L.D. is also relying on Quentin Beck and we get to see him decked out in his comic accurate costume as green smoke wafts from his hands. Does he have the iconic fishbowl helmet? Well, yes, because at the end of the trailer, he's shown decked out in that as he presents himself the hero who has arrived to help save the day!

A New Dynamic

The stinger for the trailer is a scene of Flash Thompson making fun of Peter but here's where things get really interesting. During the panel, Tom Holland revealed that Peter and Mysterio do indeed work together in the film and that they become like "brothers."

Now, common sense says that Mysterio is the one creating these "Elementals" but the dynamic between these two is clearly going to be much different than we expected. It's also said that there's no reference to the events of Infinity War or Avengers: Endgame.

@DetectiveCinema - And Amy Pascal said:

"Spiderman will still work with the MCU and still be integrated. Our Spiderverse properties will also operate away from the MCU like how Alex & Ani bracelets are sold at different jewelry stores but ultimately are the same brand. We want to be a Jewlery store offering you Spiderman while the MCU offers you Spiderman jewelry too. And the delivery trucks are the spiderverses delivering different films."

Kevin Feige reading this like:

@MrCamw1 - Much like the rivalry between Grace Randolph and Jessica Chastain, we will never know how it started and whether it real.

@MrCamw1 - She seems to have a dislike for Jessica Chastain (more her personality that acting ability).

Now it's clear she plays it up for videos, and it simply the best thing ever. There are complication videos.

As well as genuinely wanting to see Dark Phoenix (most anticipated CBM next year), i cannot wait for Graces review due to Jessica Chastain being in it.

@StormXmen123 - Grace always hated Chastain, long before she was an internet personality.

@Roodi - People in her position talk like that. Which is amazing. You'd think with all that Ego, somebody would have put the brakes on their rapid career progression. But guess with ego comes confidence. And with confidence usually comes success

Halfway through Venom... it feels like a mid 2000s low-budget mix of an action horror film with a romantic comedy; a very weird and gross one...
