Spider-Man: Homecoming is finally released this week but both Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are already looking ahead to the future. We know that Peter Parker is going to appear in the next two Avengers movies but very little is known about what the fallout from those will be and where we'll find the wall-crawler next time he appears in a solo outing of his own. It has, however, been confirmed that he'll be one year old and in the next stage of his high school life, similar to the Harry Potter films.

That's something star Tom Holland is excited to delve into and in a new interview with Collider, he shed some light on what's to come in the Spider-Man: Homecoming follow-up and where we'll find Peter.

"I will be on Spider-Man 2 about mid-July next year," the actor confirmed during a recent Q&A. "I think the most interesting thing about a young man's life is his journey from being a boy to a man, and imagine seeing that journey while having superpowers. That's something I know I'm definitely excited to explore. I know Kevin [Feige] and the rest of the team are very excited to explore."

As for villains, we know that Venom, Scorpion, Mysterio, and Kraven the Hunter are all likely off the table, so where does the franchise go next? "Villains are obviously the big thing at the moment, but we'll have to wait and see who we choose. Who they choose." We'll have to wait and see then, but there are a number of great options on the table as Spidey has a pretty spectacular rogues' gallery!

Who would you like to see him square off with next? Let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

I hope it's Mysterio and Kraven. I also think it's been long enough to consider Doc Ock again.

Spoilers;

Post Credit scene implied that the Scorpion and a few others criminal thugs would be the villains.

Personally i think they are going to try for the Sinister Six either in Homecoming 2 or Homecoming 3; Shocker, Vulture, Scorpion, Prowler, Doctor Octopus (and whoever else they decided to add in Homecoming 2)

@Scarilian - looking at that list they need muscle so I would say Rhino or Sandman would fit well as the 6th

@RancidBane -

Maybe, any other choices though as i doubt they would want to revisit either of those (TASM2 and Spider-man 3)

@Scarilian - Vulture, Shocker, and Scorpion are a given. The Homecoming 2 film will probably introduce Prowler as a minor villain in the opening sequence. With Scorpion being the main bad guy.

The third film will probably introduce Rhino or Doc Ock. But the Sinister Six film could be a major MCU ensemble film. Since Marvel hasn't done a Masters of Evil.

Don't forget Abomination is still alive as well. They can add him in the Sinister Six as the sixth member.

@SonOfAGif -

Prowler is already introduced partially in Homecoming, though without a suit, he's a thug like Scorpion is (to an extent)

I'm not sure if adding Abomination would fit with Marvel/Sony's intentions for Spider-man Homecoming and its sequel (Sequels?) They seem to be trying to keep the budget low so having an entirely CGI character might be pushing it.

@Scarilian - I think they could also introduce Sandman and Electro. They wouldn't even have to give them origins as everyone knows who they are from the previous films.

@Scarilian - I'm fairly certain Spider-Man Homecoming 3 will be Sinister Six in some form.

I'm hoping for a more traditional team composition thought. Swap Electro for Shocker but that's about it.

@Scarilian - ARGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!! It's not even out yet!!!!!!! I know you said spoilers but seriously, could you try a bit harder. Maybe........

........do something like this next time please? I know you weren't trying to spoil it but my eyes didn't comprehend until it was too late. I'm sorry.

@RancidBane - Hydroman and the Jackal.

@noahthegrand -

The spoilers were minor and the reveal of the additional villain was already announced publicly on this website in an article heading. So the 'spoiler' remark was arguably unnecessary but done anyway. Adding space does not change things because people intentionally scroll through the comments.

Why do you postulate that "Venom, Scorpion, Mysterio, and Kraven the Hunter are all likely off the table"?

Don't say scorpion is off the table when (Spoiler alert) he's in the movie

Give me DOC Oc, Rhino, Smyth, Beetle, or some more obscure villain.
