'The Vulture' Rumored To Be Villain In SPIDER-MAN Reboot; Final Title Possibly Revealed

According to Birth.Movies.Death, they've heard that the upcoming Spider-Man reboot is indeed titled Spider-Man: Homecoming (which makes sense all things considered) and that we may even get to see the treatment for that a little later today during Sony's CinemCon presentation.

Time will tell on that front, but the site adds that The Vulture is going to be a villain in the movie. They're not sure what kind of role he'll end up having, but do mention that they've previously heard that Adrian Toomes won't be the main big bad. The Spider-Man movies have struggled with utilising more than one villain in the past, so he'll hopefully make little more than a cameo appearance if this report is accurate and he's not the wall-crawler's main foe.

Sam Raimi actually planned on using The Vulture in Spider-Man 4, and John Malkovich was being eyed for the role at the time, so it will be interesting to see if Marvel and Sony go back down that route or cast someone entirely different. Either way, the dynamic of a young Peter Parker squaring off with an octogenarian villain will certainly be quite a bit different to what we've seen before.

If we can have Falcon, we can have a kickass Vulture!

@DrDoom - Be cool to see a logo for Toomes Industries on Falcons wings in Civil War.

@DrDoom - It would be dope if Adrian Toomes was the creator of the Falcon paratrooper wing techonology for the US government, and then he went rogue and made a more advanced version for himself.

@DrDoom - I actually prefer the idea of Vulture's tech being straightforward anti-gravity, so he flaps his wings while he's weightless to get around. It's sort of old-school and goofy, but I think the Vulture should be a little bit ridiculous.

But I also don't think he's a great villain on his own for a whole movie, particularly if Spidey is hanging out with Iron Man and the Avengers. At the risk of the "too many villains curse", I think MCU Spidey might do best to jump right into an organized supercrime story where Osborn is building supercriminals for the Kingpin with the Shocker, Hammerhead, Trapster, or whoever being the first wave, the Vulture being a disgruntled Oscorp scientist, and then kick off the big guns late in the movie (or the sequel) leading up to the Green Goblin.
