It’s been over two weeks since the news broke that Zendaya Coleman has landed a role in Marvel and Sony’s forthcoming Spider-Man movie, but the actress/singer/model has now confirmed the unexpected casting during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“I can’t say anything else other than I’m going to be in it,” she said of the Spidey reboot. “I have no idea [when filming begins]. I don’t even know that to be completely honest.” Zendaya then discussed making the transition from Disney projects to a “real” movie, and also how she got the role. “It’s very exciting. When it comes to the acting space, I’m basically unknown. I’ve never been in a real movie before or anything like that, so I had to start from the bottom like anyone else. I auditioned and auditioned and auditioned and [broke] down those walls because a lot of people do have that pre-conceived notion of who I am based off previous things I’ve done, so you got to really break that down and go hard, put in the work, take all the meetings, take all the auditions.”

Obviously, Zendaya Coleman could not reveal who she’s playing in Spider-Man opposite Tom Holland, but it was initially reported that her character’s name will be Michelle. Anyhow, expect more casting news for the untitled reboot, which is directed by Jon Watts, and also stars Marisa Tomei, with a release date currently scheduled for July  7, 2017.

Don't know much about her, but Marvel has a pretty flawless casting record.
