Steve Ditko, iconic Marvel artist/writer and co-creator of Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and many other classic characters, recently passed away at the age of 90.

Since the news of his death was reported two days ago, tributes and condolences have been pouring in from those that recognized Ditko's work as truly groundbreaking for not only the comic book industry, but the sci-fi/fantasy genre in general.

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME - Here's Everything We Know About The Spidey Sequel So Far

We never really got to find out how Ditko felt about seeing the characters he had such a big hand in bringing to life making the jump to the big screen, but we like to think he'd have been proud of the latest incarnation of Spider-Man.

Marvel Studios seems to agree, as they've commemorated the great man with Ryan Meinerding's new painting of The MCU's interpretation of The Webhead, who was co-created by Ditko and Stan Lee back in the 60s.

Check out the image below, and please feel free to share your own thoughts on Steve Ditko and his legacy with us in the comments. Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker/Spidey in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which recently kicked-off production.

I just read that Ditko actually passed 10 days ago, alone, and was only just found.

Jesus that’s depressing

@LEVITIKUZ - You're right. It's such a time-consuming profession too. You lose track of people, social connections.

I think their heart is in the right place with the pic but they should have his work.

To think of all the joy he's brought to children around the world for decades and beyond...

What a legacy and profound contribution to the world. RIP Mr Ditko.

Nicely done. I was hoping it would be something mimicking Ditko’s style, but it a very good piece of art in general and it is all too appropriate for the sad situation.
