SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME - Awesome Alternate Version Of The Bridge Scene Shows Spidey Fighting The Green Goblin

Spider-Man: No Way Home featured quite a few action sequences, and one of the most exhilarating was (arguably) Peter facing off against Doctor Octopus on a bridge, after the hero inadvertently brought villains from other dimensions into the MCU. The two had a heart-pumping battle that came to an end when Spidey took control of Octavius' robotic arms via his ever-trusty Stark tech. As things were calming down, however, the Green Goblin appeared. Luckily for our Friendly Neighborhood Wall-Crawler, Doctor Strange swiped him and Doc Ock away before Osborn could get to them.

Parker would eventually fight the Green Goblin in the second and third act. But, if a planned sequence had come to fruition, the young hero would have traded blows with the villain much earlier in the film; specifically, during his first battle with Doctor Octopus.

Vanity Fair caught up with the film's Visual Effects Supervisor, Kelly Port, for the video "How 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Visual Effects Were Made":

Near the end of the video (at the 22:51 mark), Port discussed the bridge fight scene, and revealed that they were going to have Green Goblin show up in it from the very beginning. A previz rendering of the planned sequence was played, showing Spidey using his webs to knock the baddie off his glider, sending him flying toward the ground.

Port said of this planned moment:  "We weren't sure if we should introduce him at the beginning and have a big role in the action and the fighting. At one point, we had previz-ed something along those lines, and were exploring those ideas. Ultimately, we decided to have the big reveal like [the one in the final cut of the film], which is really fun."

While brief, the sequence features fun action, as we get to see the Wall-Crawler use his powers against Norman Osborn in a clever way. One of the highlights of the clip is a rather simple moment, as Goblin hits the pavement head-first, and we see his helmet scratching against the road, quite literally making sparks fly.

While it would have likely been fun to see this sequence play out on screen, it appears to have been something that was planned deep enough into the development stage to be visualized, but not enough to make it into the actual filming process. As such, it can't necessarily be considered a "cut" scene, as much as an alternate take on what was shown in the movie.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available to purchase digitally. It will be released on Blu-ray on April 12, 2022. Morbius, the next chapter in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, will arrive in theaters on April 1, 2022.

What they included in the movie was fine.

Although, a fight between Tobey's Spidey and Goblin would have been great
