SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Expected To Web Up Record Breaking Opening Weekend This December

Box Office Pro has shared early domestic box office projections for Spider-Man: No Way Home, and it looks like the Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures blockbuster will break records. Right now, they're estimating a $135 million - $185 million North American debut, with an eventual domestic haul of $375 million - $525 million; with figures like those, this one could end up cracking $1 billion worldwide.

Breaking down some of the threequel's pros, the site notes that this movie is the biggest December event picture since 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (we're guessing they don't consider last year's Wonder Woman 1984 or the upcoming The Matrix Resurrections to be on the same level).

In terms of cons, the biggest right now - as you might expect  - is the pandemic. Parents remain reluctant to take their children to the theaters, while there are those who still don't feel comfortable with that big screen experience. That's unlikely to change as we head deeper into the winter.

It was recently confirmed that tickets for Spider-Man: No Way Home go on sale on November 29. We're anticipating one final trailer of extended TV spot being released for the movie at that point which finally confirms rumours of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning as their respective Peter Parker Variants. That will only further increase interest, particularly from older fans.

"For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero's identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk," reads the new synopsis. "When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse."

Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in U.S. on December 17 and in the UK on December 15.

@bobevanz - I just had a thought... a lot of people think it's Andrew and Tobey helping Tom take on Lizard, Sandman and Electro, and they were cut out of the trailer.... but what if it was actually a reasoned with Doc Oc and a hooded Green Goblin (after his first appearance in full costume earlier) who comes to Peter's aid and was cut out.

Really excited for this movie and will def see this in theaters! Just really skeptical regarding Spideys future in the MCU. Hearing Tom doubting his future as Spidey and feeling burnout just makes me sad that we barely scratched the surface of his version and character arcs. Say what you will about the "Iron Man Jr" comments, its sad that Iron Man had such a big role in his first two movies and now he is probably going to be overshadowed by Tobey and Andrew (and I REALLY like Tom as Spidey). Just want to see more confidence and just relying on TOM himself, which I think we will see in a potential college trilogy, if Tom still wants to stick around long enough for that

If the movie doesn't get to 2bil faster then Endgame or Avatar, it's a total flop.

I still don't want to go sit in a theater, but this movie is a must. (I saw No Time To Die in theaters; the experience was harmless, like the old days, but with a mask. I'm still in no rush to be in cluttered places regardless.)
