Fans have been wondering for years about a crossover between Marvel, Fox and Sony, as they all own characters from the original Marvel Comics. With The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hitting theaters this Friday, MTV got the chance to interview the film's director, Marc Webb. When asked about a possible crossover, he answered that he would thoroughly enjoy it, but it isn't his call. Watch the video embedded below for more details!

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was directed by Marc Webb from a script written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. The film will star Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Jamie Foxx is Electro and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn. The film is set to land in theaters May 2, 2014.

As I mentioned before...

If Marvel/Disney wanted to Adapt a 3part Civil war film it would be possible for Spider-Man to be the main protagonist in at least one of the films because we all know how much of an important piece he plays within the story arc.

First film: Tony Stark's perspective
Second film: Spider-Man perspective
Third film: Captain Americas perspective

But I know it'll probably never happen. But the thought of seeing it handled that way would be dope!

If Marvel keeps going the way its going, I see Fox and Sony biting the bullet and teaming up. They are too money hungry not to.

Unfortunately its not going to happen any time soon, the franchises could easily cross over, a mention of the bugle in AoU is all that's needed! They don't have to appear in each others movies just acknowledge there existence!

Batz is 100% correct and spot on, something like this will never happen because of greed and egos. What is more ironic is the money would flow in big time if they did a crossover.

I actually believe Marvel Studios would be willing to do a crossover but Sony and FOX will not be game.

It's looking like Cap 2 may make more domestically than Spidey 2, which is silly given how much more popular Spidey is than Cap. That's what makes these questions valid.

It wouldn't even be that hard. Just have Coulson or someone show up in TASM3 and say "We need all hands on deck now" and then have Spidey in Avengers 3.

The only real problem becomes how does Sony split the bank with Disney? Probably the cleanest way would be to have a more important character or characters be the one to show up in TASM3, and as more than just a cameo. Let Sony keep that money. Then Disney keeps all the money from Avengers 3.

Spider-Man doesn't need to cross into other films. Neither do the X-Men. Or the Avengers. I love the idea of it, but it wouldn't work.

I don't want MCUvengers tainting X-Men and Spider-Man. Lord knows how many times they diverged from the comics.

Spider-Man didn't join the Avengers until relatively recently and, to me at least, when he was a member he seemed out of place.

IMO, Spiderman doesn't belong in the Avengers... Would love to see a Civil War crossover though... It would be incredible.

And anyone that wouldn't want to see X-Men vs. Then Avengers, is a dirty, soulless ginger...

That being said, it'll never happen...

I've never complained about anything being too crowded. I'd love to see a massive crossover. I don't need massive character development. Just gimme everyone fighting everyone, with focus on the leaders of the respective groups...
