THE SUICIDE SQUAD Trailer Officially Released By Warner Bros. Following Disastrous YouTube Ad Launch

In one of the weirdest marketing gimmicks ever, Warner Bros. debuted The Suicide Squad's new trailer as a YouTube ad...and hit anyone who shared it with a copyright strike. Now, it's finally online in HD!

Earlier on, a select number of journalists revealed that they had seen The Suicide Squad trailer early and that it would be released online later today. So far, so good, right? While an announcement from someone like John Cena or James Gunn might have been a better way to build hype for the teaser, fans eagerly started counting down for an official launch.

Well, that's now arrived, but only after what can be described as a disastrous few hours for the movie.

After it was revealed that this new trailer for The Suicide Squad could be found playing as an ad before certain videos on YouTube, excited DC fans were quick to track it down. As you might expect, they then proceeded to share the teaser on the video hosting site and websites like Twitter and Instagram...only to be hit with copyright strikes from Warner Bros.

Needless to say, rewarding the fans who were passionate enough to hunt this thing down by forcibly removing the content of the Tweets doesn't seem like the smartest marketing decision, and it's hard to imagine what the studio expected to happen - and why the new trailer for a major blockbuster would be released first as a YouTube ad rather than in the normal manner.

Anyway, after a morning of this trailer appearing and disappearing, you can now enjoy it in glorious HD below (via ComingSoon.net). The Suicide Squad looks like a fun ride, but here's hoping our next sneak peek receives a more traditional release than whatever the plan for this one was!

"Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A," reads the synopsis. "Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese."

"Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and- destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave...and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them."

The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6th, 2021.

This looks fun and weird. The costumes are brilliant too.

Some of the jokes are meh but in context might land better.
Name dropping Superman was a plus for me and King Shark better survive!

Also, I acted in the music video for the song being played its the official video for the movie.

It’s by Grandson and Jessie Reyes and it was really fun to shoot!

@ThorArms - I'd go with Meh, as opposed to bad.

@leethario - I agree, but its a strongly negative "meh".

@ThorArms - I was interested at first but James Gunn pulled a Guardians of the Galaxy and made everyone a bumbling idiot. Part of the charm or "teams" are the differences in personalities amongst the members. For example the Justice League is full of truth and justice with Superman, full of leadership and strength with Wonder Woman, and full of Darkness and Punishment with Batman. But Snyder made all 3 essentially Batman. Not everyone can pull off teams but so far The Russo Brothers have proven to be able to do so.

The copyright strike thing is already the best thing to come out of this movie.

@roboticJohnson - I actually saw I on YouTube this morning and thought I was going crazy. Being on here as much as I am, I was like... "wait.... what's this?"

I was almost too confused to realize I was watching a new trailer, because of all people I should have known about a new trailer. Lol so this article helped clear things up.
