THE SUICIDE SQUAD Working Title Has Been Revealed; Alludes To A Hidden City

Pre-production on James Gunn's soft Suicide Squad reboot has been escalating as of late. In addition to the roster reveal and with casting underway, the title it is working under has also been unveiled...

With principal photography starting in September, James Gunn's The Suicide Squad will no doubt be making waves until its release.

Over the past couple of weeks, a lot has happened in the film's development. Most importantly, Will Smith dropped out as Deadshot, with Gunn and co. finding a replacement in Thor: Ragnorok's Idris Elba. In addition, the roster proved itself to be quite animated, utilizing obscure characters like King Shark and Polka-Dot Man. Most recently, Production Weekly has revealed the film's working title: El Dorado.

Though it is unclear how the mythical city of gold fits into the film's narrative, it is intriguing that the working title was chosen in the first place. While a lot of production titles have to do little with the movie's finished product, it wouldn't be surprising if the film took an elitist vs. everyman narrative, something the working title could be hinting at.

Interesting. Wonder if it's a quest like movie akin to Aquaman?
Either way, this will be 20x more entertaining than the first squad movie.

@CBMFilmJunkie - Agreed. Gunn does good stuff and now Elba? There is no possible way it could be worse.
BUUUUUT,
Did I miss Elba getting confirmed? The last thing I saw on here said he was being eyed for deadshot, but nothing official.

@GratefulBat - No confirmation, but I think where there's smoke there is fire so I would expect some kind of confirmation soon. Unless he has something in books for the fall, I haven't checked.

@CBMFilmJunkie - I like the quest idea. In the vain of IJ&the Last Crusade or Apcolypse Now, I’d like this Squad to be sent to find a previous Task Force, lead by Deathstroke, that never returned from “El Dorado”. Did his crew make it
or take it? Either way they have to bring them back dead or alive and with the McGuffin to boot. Harley Quinn can be a wild card playing both sides against the other. I’d pay to see it.

@CBMFilmJunkie - Smoke/ Fire maybe. We are on a rumors site, but Elba does like to stay busy, so a whole in his sched. is likely to be filled.

I feel like Gunn's talents can be used to bring a more exciting comic book property to the big screen. Maybe I'm just burned by the last one, or my disappointment with how Joker & Harley were treated. But I can't get excited for another Suicide Squad, even with him at helm.

Or this could just be the title warner bros is using to help hide the fact they're making a high profile movie. Return of the jedi was famously called blue harvest to hide its production and dark knight rises was called magnum rex. None of those titles have anything to do with the actual plot.

it's a shame that WB is in hot box office and reviews strike with their comic book adaptation and yet at the same time the sex scandal emerge.

Wonder if Kevin Tsujihara (WB Entertainment chief) will lose his job or will he stay in his position. Maybe they will transfer him. Who knows.

Did i mention that Brett Ratner was involved ?
