An introspective look at Zack Synder's Superman/Batman movie.

An introspective look at Zack Synder's Superman/Batman movie.

A small editorial about uncovering and attempting to read between the lines of what is and what could be. This shall also include something unconventional in a personal pick of whom I assume to believe would be the best Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Editorial Opinion

Firstly, I would like to address to the readers that this is my first editorial and despite having never contributed in this manner before I believe that now is a perfect time to start and I truly come to hope that you will enjoy my written articles as I will spend time on them.

Now onto my thoughts toward the announcements, both true or false.

From the announcements we know that Zack Snyder will be taking inspiration from one of the more well known comic mythos of the 80's, The Dark Knight Returns. He is also going to be using Superman/Batman: Public Enemies as inspiration.
As of lately, many people have taken this news out of context and much more than less been imagining all the negative aspects of the Frank Miller written story.
Here is a simple thought about what he could actually mean from his statements concerning such inspiration.
When referring toward that story there is something of hint to it in Man Of Steel.

What I am referring to is his willingness to become an aide to the government of the United States of America. Good old USA

During the events of "The Dark Knight Returns", when rereading my ungraded copy. (I own both an 8.2 CGC graded copy of the comic and a readable copy)
[The picture is in question is the cover of such comic]

I noticed something that was hinted at and explored in the recent film, Man Of Steel. He had become a pawn or tool of the United States to battle larger foes. He is at times referenced as a God(or the next best thing), and by "some" as a god that needed to be taken down.
In Man Of Steel he is again referenced as a god to the people of Earth. He also is very willing and cooperative with the military of Earth. He sees them as the natural leaders more than he is a leader. Superman seems at ease following and working with the United States government. Despite the ending where he still has a slight mistrust toward the government he still seems that he will fully work with them again.

Bruce Wayne has of yet to be introduced in the DCCU(Diamond Comics Cinematic Universe[DC used to be called Diamond Comics long ago]), yet from what we can tell; he will be used as an ends to a means of aiding the reconstruction of Metropolis; possibly into a more utopian city.

Lex Luthor as we know has always been mistrusting of Superman and now he will have enough reason to have a hate agenda toward The Man of Steel.

There is something that people are missing in their debates over the speculation of the sequel to the film Man of Steel that I have yet to see. The fact that Superman is going to work with the government and in conjunction with the military as a force or tool gives even more reason for him to be hated.
Bruce Wayne is going to be predisposed with being teamed up with Lex Luthor for both the right and wrong reasons. Of those right reasons; he will be helping rebuild the city with some of the latest technology. Of the wrong reasons; they will be united in their hatred toward Superman for not only of what he has done but also of what he is doing and what he represents. What he represents is best semi-quoted from Lex Luthor from the Superman TAS "You signify the ending of the potential of our race, you are all that we can become"
He also represents a physical god among mortals with the power to destroy cities. His recklessness and inexperience in Man of Steel is almost surely a point that is going to be brought up more than once but something else is striking. Due to the fact that Mr. Snyder has decided to take inspiration from TDKR for the sequel a point that will most probably be also brought up is the mistrust toward government. Not only by Lex Luthor, which could be a reason for keeping his company as, if not more, secretive than Wayne's. Superman being a tool of the government would present a very interesting dynamic from him and the two superpower(figuratively) CEO's of their respective companies. Corporate America vs. Government. A non-reluctance to work with Lex Luthor in unison against discovering secrets and how to defeat Superman would give an easy access and way to explain how both of them come to obtain kryptonite. They both are fearful and cautious of the physical god walking/flying/hovering amongst them and in unison share research for how to defeat him inadvertently giving each other the means to do so.

Another topic that has been brought up as of lately is the matter of the actor of whom is best to portray the Bruce Wayne/Batman dynamic best in films and whom would be best to carry a franchise.

Out of all the actors that I could choose from I think I have found the perfect actor whom could be the greatest interpretation of Batman on screen, and possibly giving the first Oscar Worthy portrayal of a superhero. It is also very unconventional but I shall state my reasons consequently.

Firstly, just let me point out the reasons he is wrong for the role, just to get it out of the way though you are still free to point out any reasons I might miss.
He might be too old; this is a common complaint with most actors rumored or fancasted into the role.
He is not attractive enough; that is debatable.
He is a vegan so he would not be able to get as big of a physique as he would need to accurately portray Batman; again debatable, there are many supplements that are not animal byproducts and entirely man made/chemically created.
He is too strange: strange just might be what is needed.
He is too short: at 5'8, it would be a stretch but there are always ways of getting around that and it would also make Superman look even bigger or more intimidating.

Now onto my reasons for choosing Mr. Phoenix.
I would have chosen his brother if he were still alive.
2nd: He is an incredibly gifted actor who can portray a variety of different characters which would be needed to show the dynamic contrast of Bruce Wayne and Batman.
3rd: He is an award winning actor of the highest caliber.
4th: He can portray a tormented, brooding pretty boy well.
5th: He can portray a dark character incredibly well.
6th: He would have respect and incredibly immerse himself into the role.
7th: He would be able to portray the needed charisma to carry a franchise well into his late 40's.
8th: Not only is he unconventional but would be the best choice due to his dedication to roles, not only in research but in becoming the role to just a tiny level under the amount of transformation DDL(Daniel Day Lewis) gives to his characters.
9th: He is attractive and heavily respected and would give gravity and weight to the project, metaphorically speaking.
10th: Out of the rumors, they have been looking for something between a rugged and gritty looking actor and a pretty boy who could play incredibly charismatic onscreen and be a natural compliment to Cavil.
11th: He would be a true american portrayal of Batman/Bruce Wayne and would be both relate-able and inspiring to audiences.
12th: He would be a great compliment to the DCCU, and would have a natural friction chemistry with Henry Cavil as he is a more experienced actor, he would be a more experienced 'Superhero' to both Henry Cavil and Superman which would appear naturally onscreen, for an actor of his caliber to appear onscreen with Cavil would immediately give a sense of respect when around him and give Batman a sense of superiority that would be natural onscreen.

Point out any flaws in my logic or any positives in the comments below.

I feel that Joaquin Phoenix could do to the role of Batmna/Bruce Wayne what Heath Ledger did to the role of the Joker and what DDL does to every role.

Joaquin couldn't be Batman. His hairlip would give away his identity.

I think he would be a great choice. As far as the hairlip goes....i dont think that would give him away.....I doubt that too many people would have the priviledge of getting close enough to any of thses heroes to be able to identify them out of costume. Batman doesnt exactly make it a point to meet and greet people in broad day light. He pretty well known as an introvert. Just my opinion.

"His willingness to work the with the US government"
Crashed satellite at the end of Man of Steel.....

Terrible choice for batman, the guy plays creepy people. Not rich people. Batman needs to be a strong person, not someone who is creepy. Pheonix would be much better suited to play the joker or something. Great actor, bad batman. That nic Cage Article was better than this.

they can makeup the lip, but he would be so much more fit for a villain. Like gladiator, fantastic.

One of the reasons I said he was unconventional is because you would nto expect him to be batman

He would do a great job as a version similar to the cartoon's Two Face. As for Bats, [frick] no!

...... and it has nothing to do with his hair lip.

I like the editorial for a first article; nice work.

Personally, I say "hell no!" to Phoenix as Bats, but that's just one opinion.

I don't see Batman/Wayne having a "hatred" of/for Superman. Sure, Bats is borderline untrusting of all his allies to an extent and always has a contingency plan, but I don't see him "hating" Clark/Superman even though they do not share core values, motivations, or ideologies.

I myself would love to see Bats/Bruce be the one who cracks the "kryptonite code" to showcase his immeasurable intelligence and detective skills...then have Luthor exploit that discovered weakness in some way. To me, that beholdens Batman to Superman in a way similar to Batman creating the Joker; if Batman discovers for the whole world the one thing that can incapacitate/kill Superman, he kind of owes Superman.

Ummm.....first, where did you get the idea that the Superman from MoS was going to be working with the military all the time or viewed them as leaders? He does work with them in MoS, because they have the airplane that is needed to drop his ship on Zod's ship to create the black hole. He needs them to do that so he can attack the world engine on the other side of Earth. But, he says at the end that while he is there to help, he's gonna do it his way, not their way. As far as leadership, I would hope that he would view a democratically elected government as being leaders (although I also sincerely hope that in that universe we have a better president than Obama.)

Second, if he did work with the military, why would that make anyone except liberal anti-military types hate him more? Contrary to what most left-wing radicals think, the vast majority of Americans have a huge amount of respect for the military. Frank Miller did have a liberal political agenda when he wrote that comic, & the worst thing WB could do in this next movie is embrace that agenda, it would just turn many people off. The one thing that I hate about many comic book movies is that the military is often portrayed as either the bad guys, or at least as a roadblock (the way Shield is portrayed is an excellent example. They're supposedly evil for making the Phase 2 weapons. I for one would want them to do that. And contrary to what Tony says in that movie, nuclear deterrence is what made sure we never had a World War III.)

Joaquin Phoniex is a phenomenal actor but would never do a Comic Book Movie.
