Henry Cavill isn’t the Only One Getting Jacked. Shannon Discusses his Training.

Looks like being buff and ripped is just part of the Kryptonian way.

Upon the first images of Zod and Superman, I like many just assumed there was a lot of padding added to the new Krypton garb. But it seems like everyone is on the workout train for Superman: MOS.

Here is Michael Shannon speaking to Total Film.

“I've definitely never put this much effort into fitness for a part. I've never even considered it part of my job. It's not even a cosmetic thing, like I need to have a six pack[...] It's pretty intimidating to say, 'I'm a General'. They're all just very fit. I don't even know what it's like to feel like a private.”

They also had a small bit about Shannon’s fear of flying.

I think, 'What the hell is going on? This is impossible! I'm in this giant piece of metal, 40,000 feet in the sky!' And then there's a little turbulence, and then my heart goes up in my throat and I feel like I'm going to die!

I have faith in Zack Snyder, but people were saying that about Green Lantern too.

Just sayin.

Are you saying Cap. America and GL share the same parent company?

And besides, I wish people would stop shitting all over GL. It really wasn't that bad. It's like it's the cool thing to do in hating on it now. Develop your own personal tastes and opinions, and quit following the opinions of others.

@ TGDS - The movies are being created by the same studio that is plenty enough reason to mention concern. It is a different team, WB is still managing the blockbuster and may have put plenty of stipulations and restrictions on the movie.

Personally I am concerned about Snyder, most of his movies IMO are style over substance. Watchmen is the only exception I can think of. 300 was a great story and visuals but seemed lacking in character development. Sucker Punch was a style only movie IMO, I wasn't invested in any of the characters.

IMO this is why Marvel movies have had more success. Tony is an egotistical smartmouth with a heart of gold. Steve Rodgers will and spirit is 1000x stronger than is body. Thor is a big fat jerk that needs to learn humility and discipline before he can reach his potential. (IMO he only learned humility in Thor :D)

IMO this is why Nolan's Batman is so popular. Batman Begins shows you how far Bruce is willing to go for justice. How tormented he is. He tries to kill the guy that killed his parents, tries to kill the guy that ordered the hit, ends up in a Chinese prison beating the crap out of thugs, and finally meets Ra who helps him develop the skills needed to become Batman.

IMO GL was a decent movie but it wasn't at all what Hal Jordan is in the comics. The main character of the movie had no character development and that ultimately killed the movie.

Where in Batman Begins did Bruce try and kill Falcone?

When he went to the restaurant to provoke that guy.. i don't think he meant to kill him but he kinda had a death wish.. that's prolly what he's talking about

I think some folks missed the point of his meeting with Falcone.

@ Blanka1212 - I am going off memory here. I think Bruce had the intention he took the revolver when he went to meet Falcone. Feel free to enlighten me as to the true purpose of the meeting because it sure wasn't to thank Falcone.

@TGDS - Didn't know that but it isn't my point. My point is that everything looks awesome about this movie except WB management and Zack Snyder. Batman Begins was more than just great writing. The actors and direction were also very interesting. It had the entire package and I want that to happen in every comic book movie.

CATFA was great because of the way Steve Rodgers was written. However IMO the movie was nearly ruined by speeding through the second half. Instead of developing a 2nd half rivalry between the ideas of Cap and Skull, we received a montage of clips with Cap taking down each Hydra base. Skull had a superiority complex in the beginning of the movie but seemed to run away from Cap until the very end. The story should have also conveyed that the cosmic cube was responsible for the plane crashing.

Bruce took the gun in order to kill Joe Chill, however, one of Falcone's people shot Chill as he was leaving the courthouse. He went up on a plea bargain because Falcone told him some things in prison that would possibly indict Falcone. Hence the hit.

Bruce becomes upset because this was meant to be his means of vengeance, and during a lecture in which Rachel Dawes claims that the Wayne family is one of the only decent things in Gotham, Bruce shows her the gun, citing that he is not one of those good people. He dreamt of killing the man that took his parents way from him. It was all he felt he had left in this world. And now he doesn't even have that. Rachel slaps him, telling him that this isn't what his parents would want from him, and that they would be ashamed.

After that, we'r shown Bruce standing by the docks, clutching and staring at the gun in his hand. He's contemplating what Rachel said. This is where we see his realization that guns are what killed his parents, hence his hatred of guns. And that he almost became the same violent, corrupt, dirty element of the city that his parnts fought against. It overcomes him and he tosses the gun into Gotham Bay.

After this, we see him confront Falcone to (where he says it SPECIFICALLY) show him that not everyone in Gotham (and Bruce himself) are not afraid of Falcone, and that he is not afraid to confront him. He had no intention of killing him, at all.

@ Blanka1212 - thanks for the play by play. I forgot he tossed the gun prior to confronting Falcone. However your more accurate description proves my original point. Batman Begins is great because the story was well written and the director and actors properly conveyed that story on screen. With TDKR coming out next year I will be watching this movie again soon. I have probably watched the movie 6 times but I haven't watched it since TDK released to dvd.

It's all good. The Mrs. and I are going to have a Midnight Showing Marathon when TDKR comes out. We're going to get a bunch of tickets, invite a bunch of friends over at about 6 PM, order some pizzas, and watch Begins and the Dark Knight. Then we're all going to head over to the theater and catch the midnight showing. That's how amazing those movies are. And my wife could otherwise give two shits about Batman, but she loves those movies.

I doubt we will be that hard core but we will watch Begins and Dark Knight the week before the release. We will also be watching TDKR opening weekend. My wife doesn't care for comics but she loves a good movie.

@ blanka1212 I agree gl wasn't a bad movie and hopefully zack will hit it out the park (if he don't Warner n dc both loose the rights to superman) but hey no superhero can be worse then daredevil n the first hulk agreed? So let's lay off of them n let them do their job cuz 2013 is right around the corner n by the way the man of steel looks on the Internet I think dc has got something good on their hands

I have faith in this movie and after looking at set photos and the like, I've come to a conclusion that this could do for Superman what Batman Begins did for Batman, revive and bring the franchise back to the forefront of public consciousness.
