The Steve Johnson FX Facebook page has recently uploaded some pictures from Tim Burton's canceled "Superman Lives" movie.

The album includes photographs taken of a number of different suit designs, sculpts and tests. Many of the photographs show some of the film's suit designs in detail that hasn't been seen before.

Anyone remember the Electric Blue Superman from the late 90's-early 00's?

They did that because of what they wanted to do with the Burton movie.

Awful! Just awful! How can Burton have gotten Batman so close to being right and Superman so far off the mark?! I would love to have the Nic Cage dummy for target practice!

@MaxJaybo- Yeah, but that version of Superman sucked ass and everyone knew that eventually he would be returning to the Superman we all know and love.

Hey I'm one of the few people who really enjoyed Burtons take on Batman (BOTH). If it wasn't for him starting it, we wouldn't have the Batman movies we have now. But we really dodged a bullet with his Superman! Thank God almighty!!!

Hey this is a reminder for all of you in a film the director follows a blue print given to him by the films producer the director has the ability to change many things but he still has to use the screen play. So its not Burtons fault entirely besides Jon Peters the one who owned the Superman Film rights at the time didnt want a traditional superman suit either, not to mention the early 90s blue superman suit. So get off the guys back.


By the way the suit looks like shit it would have been cool if it would have been any other new super hero except Superman.

WOW!!! I would love to see the meeting where they decided rape the innards of the character. I imagine something like this:


Hollywood exec 1-"hey lets do a superman movie and give it to tim burton, he's made for hollywood hits!"

Tim Burton- " yes but my take will fundamentally change everything about the character"

Hollywood exec 2- "where'd you come from?"

Tim Burton- "I was lurking within the floor boards, but that is irrelevant. We should take everything iconic about the character, and ill eat it. Itll funnel through my dark mind and freaky hair do, and i will digest it. What i shit out will be the next superman movie"

Hollywood exec 1- "what do you have in mind"

Tim Burton- "well, Johnny depp will star in every roll other than superman. And yes I am including lois lane"

Hollywood exec 2-"YEAH..."

Tim Burton-"Next, of course, we take all of the color out, like i do in every movie. Red? Blue? American colors? Iconicity? Pish Posh. Im tim burton, therefore, this will be a success no matter how badly i shit on the creative talent that came before me. His suit will be black, silver and the Emblem will in no way resemble the iconic look.

Hollywood exec 1- "YEAH!!!"

Random sane person-"WTF?!?!??!?!??!?!"

Tim Burton- "Then we'll make the guy, who's supposed to be INCREDIBLY handsome, look freakishly odd to externalize his hidden anguish.... who's hideous enough to pull that off? NICHOLAS CAGE WILL PLAY SUPERMAN!"

Hollywood exec 1- "He'd single handedly completely shit on this film... keep going with ideas on how to fist [frick] superman some more"

Tim Burton- "Well, his body will not be in any kind of shape... it'll just be the suit. Oh and the suit will glow up like a plasma lamp!"

Hollywood exec 2- "wow, you really are made for hollywood!"

Hollywood exec 1- "you have any ideas about a hulk movie?"

Tim Burton-"off the top of my head... I'd make hulk fight a hulked out poodle"

You know, I hate Superman (and I mean HATE). But thank god that this movie didn't get made. I really don't understand why WB let Tim Burton run with Batman and Batman Returns, and let him produce the Schumaker Atrocities. THEN gave him control over Superman. He was going to destroy that story as well. All simply because he doesn't read comic books and wants to use an existing character and piss on it's story and legacy. What a schmuck
