Smallville actress Allison Mack, who played the role of Superman's best friend Chloe Sullivan, was finally sentenced today over her role in the Sex Cult NXIVM. She had been taken into costody in 2018 shortly after the arrest of founder and leader of the cult Keith Raniere.
After her arrest, Mack had begun cooperationg with prosectutors, providing evidence and a recording of Reniere's branding rituals. Reniere was sentenced to 120 years in Federal Prison for sex exploitaton, sex trafficking, forced labor, fraud and conspiracy charges last year.
Mack pleaded guilty to sex trafficking, forced labor and conspiracy charages last year. In additon to these charges, prosecuters stated that Mack had also become a "master" of slaves," ordering "labor" and "sex acts" with Reniere. Mack would have faced 14-17 years in prison if not for her cooperation with prosectors, which allowed her defence to seek a probate, or home confinement sentencing.
Shortly before her sentencing, she released a statement renouncing Reniere.
"This was the biggest mistake and greatest regret of my life. I am sorry to those of you that I brought into Nxivm. I am sorry I ever exposed you to the nefarious and emotionally abusive schemes of a twisted man."
"Please know that I am dedicated to spending my life working to mend the hearts I broke and continuing to transform myself into a more loving and compassionate woman."
