Tom Welling, Kelly Souders And Al Gough Tease Seeing The Superman Suit In Smallville Finale!

The three all share their thoughts on what it will be like to see Clark Kent finally become Superman and drop a few hints about how exactly we might see it happen...

TV Guide have posted some brief excerpts from their Smallville feature in the latest edition of the magazine, and here is what was said in relation to us seeing Clark Kent finally becoming Superman by donning the iconic suit. Apparently, the actual issue contains more info on Darkseid, Zod and Lex Luthor, so be sure to check it out when it hits stands tomorrow!

Tom Welling:

"This show, to me, has always been about Clark Kent — it hasn't been about Superman. And it was very important at the end that we make sure that we wrap up the Clark Kent story."

Kelly Souders:

"I will just say to keep watching through the whole two hours. There is a very, very special moment that we love, and everyone who is looking for that moment won't be disappointed."

Al Gough:

"The wonderful thing about the show is that the people who work on it are just as passionate about it today as they were 10 years ago. Kelly and Brian found a gear for the show and made it work. I know it wasn't easy. I'm certainly grateful to them that they were able to do that. The last scene of the last episode was always going to be Clark putting on the suit and flying off into his destiny. And my guess is that, when we all see the finale, it will be some version of that."

The two-hour finale of Smallville airs on the CW on May 13, later this year!

Hope he fights Darkseid in the suit and it's not just him in it for the last 30 seconds.

I completely forgot about Smallville after its hiatus.
The Man of Steal film has won my heart, and that says a LOT cause I grew up watching Smallville.

@marvel74, That's what I've been thinking too. I can't imagine them custom making a whole suit for Welling just to wear one time.

It would suck BIG TIME if that happens. I just might kick my tv. Well not the HD one, but I'm sure I'll find a tv to kick in.

Honestly I just want the first hour wrapping up storylines. Then the second part should just focus on the action. The suit, Darkseid, the whole nine yards!

Yeah i would be pissed if they never let him wear the costume. But then again, this is Clark's story.

BTW, i heard the CW producer say they are thinking pretty hard over an 11th season. No Joke! So many people watched this last season that they are wanting the extend it

I think an ideal end would be Clark in his work suit in a feel-good scene with the main characters, maybe even at the Daily Planet.
A news report comes on a TV of a crisis occuring,
They all see it and look to Clark, he walks away briskly.
(CUE TO WILLIAMS THEM, BUM BADA BUM BUM..)

Clark (in slight slow-mo) runs outside while taking off his glasses, pulling open his tie and shirt, we finally see the S on his chest, and then Clark soars into the sky.. SUPERMAN!
"DAAA DA DA DA DAAAA, DA DA DAWWWWWW!"

=D

True lol Yea it would be epic to see a battle or big exposition of it, but I doubt it'll happen.

@ bigbmh

you could be right, all of the other costumes he wears multiple times through out the season.

it wouldn't be the first time that smallville failed to deliver.

@ unmasked

you know smallville 5 minutes of action per episode.

@ lmfao

you're joking,please tell me you're joking.

Well I understand that Smallville does that. I'm thinking the series finale will be along the lines of Absolute Justice. Again that's just my guess without all the other heroes. Absolute Justice was two hours long, and it was the best tv movie they have done. So I'm hoping they go out with a bang like that.

@ unmasked

i'm not a fan of smallville, but i think absolute justice is the best two episodes i've ever seen of smallville.

in the uk it was shown over two weeks, not as a movie.

but thats exactly what they should do.

That's what I don't want...I don't want to see the last scene of the finale just being him put on the suit and fly off into the sunset, I wanted and still want them to have him don the suit for the first time in the episode before or in the very beginning of the final episode. That way the fans (who deserve to be rewarded for sticking with the show for 10 years) get to see Superman in action throughout the show.

Finish the Darkseed story then after everything returns to normal have Clark change into the costume and pull off an amazing airplane rescue like in Byrne's Man of Steel.

@Starfighter

Nope. Didn't make it. I'd like to have a War Machine one tho. :)

@Marvel72

Excatly. I thought smallville put a lot of effort into Absolute Justice and it showed. They have Darksied on the show. So I'm assuming that there is gonna be some form of a fight. If not then he was a total waste. I feel that for the people who do love Smallville and have watched since the beginning, deserve more than just a gilmpse of the friggin "S" symbol. Give us a real fight CW!!! lmao

I wonder what people's reaction would be if Smallville ended like how Superman movies have ended so far, with him flying off to space:

if he doesnt wear the suit in the finale i will be super pissed. or if he just rips his shirt open to show the s then it ends would be super gay.
dont like the show much but it is superman which is the only reason i watch if and when i do.

What a bunch of f*cking wankers. (Referring to the haters.) We know you hate the show, so wank off somewhere else. I like the show and have been mostly faithful since the first episode. I hope we'll see the full suit in action, and I would love an 11th season of ALL Superman.
Welling has been an amazing Clark.
Durance has been the best Lois yet on screen.
For me, that's what I care about.

Would you wankers rather have NO Superman on tv at all? I'll take this gladly over nothing, especially since it's pretty good.

I've thought it was very strong this season, in a lot of ways I wish they had addressed some of these storylines a season or two ago because it feels like they are having to cram a lot of great things into these last few episodes. It would have been nice if they had eschewed some of the "Meteor Freak" stories from early in the series for some of the things they later did with Green Arrow, etc, etc.

I'm looking forward to the end though, I think Tom Welling's care for the character has really shown through. You can always tell when someone really likes their character (Tom Welling, Hugh Jackman) and when they don't (Kirsten Dunst).

@deanwilkins, dude people have the right to their opinions. some here dont like the show much but thats their right. bashing them aint gonna change how they view the show. i like smallville too BUT I also know when they drop the ball. You gotta look at the positives and negatives of the show. Having a blind bias wont help anything. Marvel72, Grif and Intruder are some of the funniest guys here. Why ? Because while they express their dislike of the show they make it funny and we respect their opinions.

Yeah... sounds like "Revenge Of The Sith" to me. Waiting until the last 30 seconds to catch a glimpse of the dude in the Suit. If Clark doesn't at least have a couple of lines and some proper camera time in the suit, I think I'd feel a bit hard done to, especially since we've been waiting 10 years for this.

I think he'll be wearing the suit the final film by looking at his built. I think he kinda gain more weight by looking at his shoulder and chest. It looked kinna broad right now cuz maybe when he puts the suit on, he would still looked buffed on it.
marvelguy
marvelguy - 4/6/2011, 1:48 AM
Since they have about four weeks before they film it, the end could change. Welling may be saying that since he probably liked the role avoiding wearing tights, etc. The producers are probably trying to tease. Face it, anything could happen. It will be disappointing if they don't show him in the suit for more than a few seconds or minutes. There should be a 'super' sweep through the city as he goes 'daytime' and saves people and stops big and small crimes.
AC1
AC1 - 4/6/2011, 2:07 AM
I like Zero Ethic's idea, and that could work even if we see Clark as Superman fighting Darkseid (which is what I'm personally hoping for).

And a resounding NO to an 11th season, SMALLVILLE is all about Clark BECOMING Superman, an 11th season would ruin it if he's already in the costume.
I'm hoping for something more along the lines of a spin-off called METROPOLIS or something, and for it to be a lot closer to the comics while retaining the continuity of Smallville... Although I doubt WB have the budget, I mean what do you think is the REAL reason Clark hasn't flown yet?
AC1

@marvelguy filming already wrapped on Smallville like a week ago, they've finished filming the series.

"I will just say to keep watching through the whole two hours. There is a very, very special moment that we love, and everyone who is looking for that moment won't be disappointed."

There she said it: a MOMENT, meaning a few seconds, meaning no fights in tights! Don't get illusional about that it just won't happen.

I am totally for the idea of the episode ending with him flying in space above the earth like in the movies. Some action prior to that would be nice, but don't count on it. It is Smallville, after all. Also, don't forget that the Warner Bros studios let the show borrow Routh's suit for a shot already. They might be able to tailor that suit to Welling's body type and make it work. Whatever.
SuperKalEl
SuperKalEl - 4/6/2011, 4:16 AM
They got to have Im in the suit for more than just a few minutes and just for a moment...almost like the full 2nd part of the finale.
