Disney might lose 150 million dollars because of “The Lone Ranger”

Even before its release, the fate of the movie was destined to fail. But was it worse than we expected?

Disney’s “The Lone Ranger” heavily faltered out of the gate with a miserable opening weekend gross of just under 30 million. The production has been troubled since the beginning with Disney wanting to scrap the movie before it got started. But obviously it did and with a 215 million dollar budget plus more than a hundred in addition on advertising. Disney now probably regrets not scrapping the film as they stand to lose a whopping 150 million dollars. This is yet another huge loss for Disney following last year’s bomb John Carter. Maybe they should start looking more into the public wants before starting projects that cost more than 200 million dollars.

But their woes wont last long as more Marvel movies are coming out as well as Star Wars. Their bomb wont matter much because Iron Man 3 made more than a billion and Monsters University continues to hold strongly at the worldwide Box Office.

"Maybe they should start looking more into the public wants before starting projects"

^The public wants something new. Westerns and John Carter are as unoriginal as you can get. Yes I know that it's based on an one tv show and John Carter is older than Star Wars but they just look stale to the public.

Well, Lone Ranger only opened in their 30% percent of their markets. So, once they've opened all their markets internationally, they should make some of that $150M back.

Can't they make a GOOD LONE RANGER MOVIE FOR 50-120 MILLLION??!! Where did all that 200 million went??? Isn't this the 90s thinking, put millions behind a so-so story/character and the payback will be huge? Haven't anyone learned from the poor profit showings of Peter Jackson's King Kong movie???

Also I feel that there had to be a few western movies before a big budget mega deal western movie, ... PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT, work out the kinks, know what works or don't work, experience counts, etc.

Once it's full box office tally is over & DVD sales occur,Disney won't lose that much & they are a crazy wealthy company so it's not a big deal at all.

I love westerns, too bad the general audience..as usual..are brain dead morons.
