Clifton Collins Jr. Debunks Involvement in Thor

Bad news for those of us looking forward to seeing Clifton Collins Jr. take part in Kenneth Branagh's Thor.

The fine folks over at TheDeadbolt had a short conversation with Clifton Collins Jr. about his participation--or lack thereof--in Thor.

So what's the latest update?

"Absolutely nothing," said Clifton. "I have nothing to do with that piece." Despite being active on Twitter with updates that were perceived as hints of his involvement in Thor, Collins Jr. told TheDeadbolt that Thor is now in his rear view acting mirror. "That was a long time ago," admitted Clifton who will soon be seen in the long awaited Troy Duffy helmed Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. "I wasn't really getting into it," Collins Jr. elaborated on Thor. "I was just preparing stuff. It's a fantastic director, a great piece, but I have absolutely nothing to do with it."

Following up on the Thor related Twitter activity and his study of Thor, the CMT award winning director of the Zac Brown Band's video for "Chicken Fried" gave TheDeadbolt insight into why he mentioned on Twitter that he was studying Thor. "I study everything a lot," Clifton revealed in looking back on his Twitter updates and his meeting for Thor. "I like to get into it and it's been hard to juggle stuff with the videos and everything else. But I'm learning and I'm getting better at it."

When asked if he could tell us the specific Thor character that he read for in the upcoming comic book adaptation, Clifton Collins Jr. was bound by the mighty Marvel in that he couldn't tell us what Thor character was potentially up for Clifton Collins Jr. grabs.

That's too bad; I thought the man did a fine job in Star Trek and I'm really looking forward to his roles in Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day and Mike Judge's latest outing Extract.

I love Boondock Saints, but I suggest that all fans of the film watch a doc called "Overnight". It's about the rise and eventual fall of Troy Duffy, the films director.

Sad stuff.

I think Clifton was up for Hogun the Grimm of the Warriors Three. Damn shame too. He is a good actor.

I think you have to be from Boston to really appreciate the saints. It seems almost like a logical movie if you grew up in a law enforcement family in mass, or at least like a wish fulfillment type of deal.

thwhtknight, I didn't grow up in Boston and ...Saints is one of my all time favorites! I love the pacing, characters and storytelling.

Also, I don't mind a movie that's somewhat derivative... to a certain degree. In a world of remakes, "derivative" isn't all that bad. Unless you're brazenly obvious about it!!! If that's the case then you might as well go ahead and do another... god I hate this word... remake...

'Rashomon' is not a cult classic. This is a film that is studied by film theorists and screenwriters. It is a classic, and part of history.

To say it's a cult classic, really doesn't do it justice. It's too revered for that. Everything else you mentioned was spot on though. My fav is 'The Warriors'

Wooo! That's so cool they're making a second Boondock Saints movie! The first kicked major ass, so I have high hopes for this new one.

And Tucson @ The Warriors is a ruddy good film! ("Warriors, come out to pla-a-ay!")

Mr. Jojo Risin and Keven... Will you both just stop it and revel in the fact that Quentin and Troy are coming out w/ (what's almost guaranteed to be) awesome movies?! Basterds' All Saints Day (*clever, right?), respectively.

Plus, we have soooo many awesome comic-book-movies on the horizon!!! I won't even name them! You two know what I'm talking 'bout! I enjoy a good debate just like anyone else, but when you're both right... YOU'RE BOTH RIGHT!!!

Now hug and relish the fact that you're both top cats in the top hats.
