Heading into Thor: Love and Thunder, it's been thirteen years since news broke that Chris Hemsworth would play the God of Thunder, and eleven years since he debuted on screen in 2011's Thor. The actor was a relative unknown when he was cast as the Marvel Comics superhero, but the Australian has since become a household name.
In the video below, Hemsworth is asked about potentially still "swinging the 'ol Stormbreaker" six years from now. The significance of this, of course, is that it would mean he'd beat fellow Aussie actor Hugh Jackman's record for his lengthy sixteen-year stint playing Wolverine.
"I wasn’t gonna but now that you’ve put that in front of me, you make a good point. It’s only six years, I’ve come this far," Hemsworth jokes. "To turn back now would just be a waste."
We'd love to see him continue to play Thor for as long as possible (King Thor is an old man, remember...), but in the playful spirit of taking shots at Jackman, Hemsworth suggested he'd steal his possible cameo role in Deadpool 3. "I make might some calls to make sure [Jackman doesn't appear in Deadpool 3]. I’ll put myself in Deadpool instead. That would be the offering."
Unfortunately, short of Multiversal shenanigans, we don't anticipate seeing Jackman return as Wolverine in the Deadpool threequel. A cameo from Thor might be fun, though, and we wouldn't be against seeing some big names from the wider MCU cross paths with the Merc with the Mouth to celebrate his long-overdue arrival in this world.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.
