Marvel Reveals New THOR: RAGNAROK Filming Details

From Taiki Waititi signing on as director to Mark Ruffalo signing on as the Incredibe Hulk, we've learned more about Thor: Ragnarok within the past few weeks than we have all year. And while it announced last week that the 2017 threequel will be shooting in Australia, Marvel has now revealed when and where exactly in the country will principal photography be taking place. It's interesting that the press release fails to acknowledge the aforementioned cast and crew additions, as well as the initial reports that said filming would occur in Georgia, but check it out below!

Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok, the third instalment of the Marvel Studios’ franchise starring Chris Hemsworth as the hammer-wielding comic book Super Hero, has today been confirmed to start pre-production in Queensland in January 2016 with filming to begin in June 2016. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk met with Marvel executives in June in Los Angeles and, through Screen Queensland, worked tirelessly to ensure Queensland was the production destination of choice.

“This is a huge win for Queensland and I am thrilled that Thor will be filming exclusively in our state,” Ms Palaszczuk said. “As our economy diversifies, Queensland is demonstrating its strength as a lead destination for filmmakers both internationally and locally, and my government is doing what it can to ensure that Queensland remains a global hub for the screen sector. The production will spend more than $100 million AUD in Queensland and will employ over 750 Queensland crew.”

“Queensland offers an amazing and diverse backdrop for Thor: Ragnarok and we are very excited to bring this film to such an incredible locale. Marvel Studios would like to thank the Queensland Government for helping to make this a reality,” said Louis D’Esposito, Co-President of Marvel Studios. The studio will film at many locations throughout Queensland including scenes at Village Roadshow Studios at the Gold Coast.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Anthony Hopkins, and Mark Ruffalo, Thor: Ragnarok is currently being scripted by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle with Taika Waititi set to direct, and the movie scheduled to release in theaters on November 3, 2017.

Enchantress + Exexcutioner + Hulk + Thor + Loki + Odin? + Beta Ray Bill? + Sif
That's a lot.

@wakandassoul

For that reason alone Feige messed up. He might have set the bar too high for a Thor movie. I'm praying its as good or even better than WS. From oour history of Thor movies this hasn't been the case.

The Thor films are fun. Some of my lesser favorites in the MCU but not at all terrible. Fully expecting this one to kick it up a notch.

@Dev7

This movie is going to put any lord of the rings movie to shame.

LMAFO!!!!! Just like how Age of Ultron put Empire Strikes Back to shame.

Still that would be a fanboy war that would be interesting. Marvelites vs Tolkienites.

Oh that would be splendid.

And here comes @superherodude1 to complain about people who haven't even posted in the thread and in multiple posts, no less.

Man, you need to get over it and ignore people you don't like or find annoying... which I do, with this one exception ;)

For real though, there is a block button, use it and live your life.

Hulk will bring Ragnarok when Loki separates Hulk and Banner.

they really need a good director for this film, it has a lot of potential but at the moment im very doubtful and throwing in hulk has not eased my concerns.

I still don't understand why everyone started to hate Thor:TDW a month after it came out. It isn't that great of a movie but it doesn't deserve all the hate it gets in this site. For me both Thor movies have been good.

And I think Feige said that in a way that the plot of the movie will be very important (setting up Infinity War), not refering to the quality of the movie (of course he wants all their movies to be that good).

personally i think it's because some of the bad points of the film (darcy, malekeith) kind of make the film feel worse than it was. the film had so much potential and a few small changes would have made the film so much better.

I don't want to see Thor vs. Hulk. I want to see the two work together to try to prevent Ragnorok and stop Surtur.

I want more Sif and the Warriors Three.

I don't want any of Thor's earth characters. Maybe a cameo from Jane (even though I wish they'd break up).

Highlight the fantastical elements of Thor. Bring the epic. Actually bring Thor to his knees somehow. He needs to struggle, something he hasn't done since his first outing.

Couldn't help but read that in an Aussie accent :E
The premise for THor 3 sounds awesome, so hopefully third time's the charm for Marvel and this character. It'd be cool to end his solo run with a bang.
Godspeed.

Bekss- i did this editorial a while ago i think a few of these changes could have made the film so much better and maybe even give malekeith a bit more depth.

Is Surtur gonna be in this?

That's been my main question for awhile, and I'm really hoping we see Mephisto eventually

I would love to see Warlock, but I feel like Vision is the MCU's Warlock, I hope that changes though, I want to see Warlock and Thanos on screen together

The Dark World suffers in a lot of areas.

The villain is under-developed. An entire sequence takes place on a desolate world with nothing going on. Why not have that scene in the ruins of an old Dark Elf city? We could get a little flarking history of the people in the environment and it would flesh out Malekith's revenge plot.

DW just dropped the ball in so many places. It only shines when Loki is on screen.

No more Darcy and her "mewmew" thoug. PLEASE, Marvel, retire her and Jane to make way for Brunnhilde and the Enchantress/Sif.

I'm not really feeling Hulk in this movie either, it's cool we're getting more Hulk.... but that's also going to take away from Thor, I was hoping for an all out Thor movie
