The Script For THOR: RAGNAROK Is Reportedly Marvel's Darkest Yet; Valkyrie To Appear?

Yesterday we heard a pretty exciting rumor about the Hulk potentially appearing in Thor: Ragnarok. Now a new report has revealed that Banner might not be the only new character on board - adding that the script is Marvel's darkest yet, and possesses an "apocalyptic vibe"...

Thor's had a bit of a rocky ride in the MCU so far. While both Thor & Thor: The Dark World have earned their fair share of fans, neither have really stunned audiences in the same way that other solo flicks like Iron Man or Captain America: The Winter Soldier did. Phase 3 could be the God of Thunder's time to shine though, and according to a new report from Devin Faraci (of Birth.Movies.Death), it sounds like Marvel are about to change up the series' tone - dramatically.

A few fans were left scratching their heads when Taika Waititi was brought on board to helm Thor: Ragnarok. The talented writer/director has acheived plenty of success - but predominantly in the comedy genre. According to BMD, this was the exact reason why he was hired by Marvel - "to bring a touch of lightness" to Christopher Yost's very dark script - which is said to have an "apocalyptic vibe". A bit of a change from watching Darcy & co. bumbling around on Earth, eh?

Faraci also delves into a few story details, so a minor SPOILER warning from here on out. He began by confirming JoBlo's recent scoop about the Hulk appearing in the threequel - and maintained that the character will play "a major role" as Thor & Hulk take "a cosmic road trip together, Hope and Crosby style". While on that journey, they'll meet the group called the Valkyries. Their inclusion could lead to major roles for both the former Defenders heroine Valkyrie, and her fan-favorite nemesis, The Enchantress. Faraci adds that he's less certain about these plot points, but resolutely states that Marvel are "looking to
cast some great women in this movie".

Both JoBlo and Faraci/BMD have a great track record when it comes to the world of Marvel scoops, but it's probably best to treat these as rumors for the moment. If they are true, what do you think of a darker Thor movie? Is it needed, or do you think the franchise was just fine without any apocalyptic vibes. And how excited are you to see both Valkyrie and Enchantress in the MCU?

Thor: Ragnarok hits theatres November 3, 2017.

I've so warmed up to the idea of Hulk being a major character, and all the rumors that have come since has just made me so excited. Can't [frick]ing wait.

Alice Eve, Gemma Arterton and/or Natalie Dormer as Valkyrie please.

Thor needs a home run and going apocalyptic is definitely the gamechanger for his franchise and the MCU.

Waihiti is such a great hire. There's so much heart in his films underneath all the humor and zaniness. Sometimes the unexpected choices are the best choices...

Am I the only one who doesn't like the idea of Hulk being in Thor 3? I mean I love Hulk and I just don't feel the need for him to be in the Thor films especially since the Thor films are the weakest of the MCU films.

Can't we just have Hulk cameo in Daredevil?

You're right @Minty Faraci does a great job with Marvel scoops.

Since he has a great track record, we and @blackandyellow shouldn't except Iron Fist as Faraci said

Darker than The Dark World? Haha!

If Valkyrie appears in Thor 3, she'll have a small part like Tyr did in TDW.

I really don't like the idea of Hulk in a Thor film, if you need Thor to go on a cosmic road trip have him go with Beta Ray Bill! Thor doesn't need Hulk as a supporting character and Hulk doesn't need to be in a Thor movie.

I hope Valkyrie and Balder are in this. The other Aesir and Vanir would be cool, too.

Anyone here remember how good the 89 Cubs were and how Don Zimmer managed so badly he cost them 15-25 loses that year and finally blew the NLCS to the Giants? He blew 90 too. He was like an illiterate trying to run a library. He ignored stats in favor of his gut feeling. But Tribune wasn't involved enough to fire him.

@TheBeard its crazy how the pirates had so many years to win a world series yet the cubs are almost there the pirates can't even past the wild card sad lol!!

Valkyrie!!!

MARVEL IS GOING DARKER WITH THEIR FILMS!!! Phase 3 has this dark atmosphere to it. Dark times are coming with Thanos so it makes sense. The lightheartedNess is still there but the story and overall air of the movies is dark.

I think Thor and Hulk will be traveling to other world's to find a way to undo Ragnarok.

She could play Death or Enchantress in my opinion

"Valkyrior witnessed the beginning of Ragnarok, the death of the gods, and grew weary from all the death they’d witnessed." Valhalla will definitely appear
