Chris Hemsworth has done a great job of bringing Thor to the big screen, and it is hard to imagine anyone else playing Thor, however, Hemsworth will eventually leave and a replacement must be ready to take up the mantle of the god of thunder. It has been stated that Marvel intends to never reboot the MCU, which means we will most likely see several different actors play the same hero, after all, it would be madness for Marvel to never make another Thor film after Chris leaves. Though Hemsworth has been great as Thor there is one actor who could be even better, someone not unfamiliar playing a Viking, his name is.... TRAVIS FIMMEL! We shall soon see Travis in his upcoming film WARCRAFT, in which he stars as Anduin Lothar, one of the greatest warriors of Azeroth. You may also know him from his role as Ragnar in Vikings, the History channel show about the Vikings and their many raids and conquests. Travis is a perfect fit for Thor, he looks like him, he is strong, handsome and he has already played a Viking so playing Thor would be easy for him. Thor: Ragnarok is said to be Marvel's darkest film yet, and after the success of Deadpool Marvel may try to go with darker storylines in Phase 4. It is my opinion that Travis Fimmel would excel playing a darker, more intimidating Thor in stories such as Siege or even the God butcher saga should Marvel choose to make such films. The only cons to Travis Fimmel taking over as Thor is his height, but 3 inches is nothing with todays CGI technology, and his age, but he is only 4 years older than Chris so its not much of an issue. In conclusion, I think Travis Fimmel is the logical replacement for Hemsworth when the time comes. Please post your oppinions, FOR ASGARD!

Hemsworth is barely 32. It's too early to even think about who is gonna replace him. He can play Thor for another 15 years.

@Jazzy4 - I thought it was rumoured he might leave after infinity war. if he stays that's great.

I can't see him leaving, especially as he is still quite young, but also he hasn't had a role outside of Thor that has done well commercially, although I have't seen The Heart of the Sea, so I cannot say how good it is.
Also Fimmell is 4 years older then him.

Although I did forget about Rush, which did quite well.

not to be a dick, but literally no one is saying Ragnarok will be the MCU's darkest film

the director has been on record saying it's going to be a [frick]ing comedy just like the other mediocre Thor movies

I love Hemsworth as Thor and I love Hiddleston as Loki but the Thor movies are the worst franchise in the MCU for sure

Chris Hemsworth is just too good. I would say he does the best job of portraying his character out of all the Marvel Studios actors, followed by Chris Evans, Tom Hiddleston and Sam Jackson.

The first actor that needs to go is Robert Downey Jr. He did an excellent job in the first Iron Man movie but he's just been playing himself in every other movie. He did an OK job in The Avengers, but there are a few scenes where he's just annoying as hell (the part where everybody is trying to figure out what Loki's plan is and RDJ (RDJ not Iron Man) interrupts and throws everybody off). I absolutely love The Avengers but this scene pisses me off. I like what I see from RDJ the Civil War trailers, but still, he [frick]ed up too many times.

Chris Hemsworth is great. His portrayal of Thor in Age of Ultron was one of the few good things about the movie. It's too soon to recast Thor.

@NitPicker - im just saying this guy could eventually replace him, not immediately. I thought I heard Hemsworth was thinking of leaving after infinity war but if hes not that's awesome.

I have absolutely no problem with an actor moving on after 3 or 4 character-named movies. I would of course hope to get 5 or 6 out of the better actor/characters symbiotic unions. James Bond is a perfect model for this. Going forward in Marvel's current universe, you will run into the occasional lack of chemistry between this new actor portraying hero A and THAT new actor portraying hero B. That's just part of the future cost of doing a connective cinematic universe.
That being said, I'm in no hurry to see more Thor movies (after Ragnarok) . While 1& 2 have been fun and entertaining, they haven't convince me to dig deeper. ESPECIALLY when there's SO much of the Marvel Universe I'd rather see them develop.

Wouldn't Natalie Portman be the obvious successor?
