PETER CULLEN AND FRANK WELKER RETURN TO THE FRANCHISE

HOLLYWOOD, CA (May 8, 2014) – Director Michael Bay has tapped John Goodman and Ken Watanabe to voice two all new Autobots in his highly anticipated film “TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION,” the fourth film in the global blockbuster franchise from Paramount Pictures.

Goodman and Watanabe will join legendary voice actors Peter Cullen and Frank Welker.

Goodman will play Autobot Hound, Watanabe will play Drift, while Cullen reprises his role as the voice of Optimus Prime, and Welker takes on another new character, Galvatron.

“I am pleased to welcome two gifted and versatile actors, John Goodman and Ken Watanabe, to the world of Transformers,” said Bay. “And to reteam with Peter and Frank, who have brought Transformers characters alive from the beginning. I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the best voice talent in the business, and together we will introduce several exciting new robots to fans of the franchise around the world.”

Rounding out the voice-over cast are actors John DiMaggio, Mark Ryan, Robert Foxworth and Reno Wilson. DiMaggio and Ryan will take on the new characters Crosshairs and Lockdown respectively, while Foxworth reprises the role of Ratchet and Wilson returns as Brains.

yuuuuuus. Frank Welker! Bay should have gone with him before. So happy e've got the G1 voices of prime ad megatron back but still disappointed Bay is still directing the franchise. I'm hoping the movie is good but it just looks like more of the same. They need to reboot the franchise with a different director IMO.

I would want Leonard Nimoy as Galvatron again. But oh wait...they already used him. Okay.

These movies are total garbage, even by action movie standards. Turn your brains on, people.

Why couldn't they get Lance Henriksen to reprise his role as Lockdown, oh well. I wonder who they got to voice Grimlock, if he even talks in the film.

I can imagine Bay discussing casting:

"Let's get Watanabe to play Drift. Get it? Because he's Japanese! He's TOKYO DRIFT! Ha ha!"

Still no word on who's voicing Grimlock. I don't see Gregg Berger on the list and until I do I will have NO faith in this movie.

People are gonna ding me for this but that's ok. I always thought if they couldn't use Cullen that ... and hear me out on this ... John Goodman would do a good Optimus Prime. He can hit some really deep tones. But, of course that would be assuming they have him channel Welker and not do his own thing.

I will also say that if they used Gary Chalk's more intelligent and erudite sounding Megatron from Beast Wars I wouldn't mind in the slightest. Little known fact, Gary Chalk did the voice of Optimus Primal AND Megatron in that series. And he was the Russian general on Stargate SG1.

And I'm guessing Watanabe will be voicing Drift? And I agree with Grif, Goodman will be voicing the fat Autobot.
