Michael Bay's Star Trek Connection

Michael Bay's Star Trek Connection

Transformers director Michael Bay may be exploiting his cousin, wife of Leonard Nimoy, to get the Spock actor to voice a Transformer.

Many are wondering if the talented Leonard Nimoy will lend his voice in the upcoming movie.

“I’m still not done with all the voices,” Bay explained recently about the “Revenge of the Fallen” robot casting for the film, which hits theaters on June 24th.

As fans of the original show remember, Leonard Nimoy was the voice of characters like Galvatron in the 1986 cartoon “Transformers: The Movie.” And “Revenge” writer Roberto Orci has said that he’d like to see Nimoy return for the summer blockbuster. Further clouding the issue, however, is the fact that Bay and Nimoy are…related?

You might think that their familial ties would make such a deal easier; Bay, however has said that it’s quite the opposite.

“You know, he’s related to me,” laughed Bay. “And now that you are filming this, maybe you can send it to him.”

“[Nimoy] is married to Susan Bay, who’s a cousin to me,” Michael explained, saying that he’s afraid of insulting his famous relative with the meager amount he is able to pay his voice actors. “I just feel kind of bad about asking him. Like ‘I can’t pay you that much? But would you do this voice?’”

So Michael hasn’t worked up the nerve yet to ask his famous cousin – who appears in next month’s “Star Trek” – to lend him his vocal talents. Instead, the pair have been using a third relative as a go-between.

“Would he do it?” Bay asked. “He suggested to my mom that he might do it.”

So there you have it Michael Bay has had his mother ask Nimoy to voice a character in Fallen, personally, I would like to see Nimoy play the Fallen or Unicron.

Holy crow... if they are wanting to do Unicron, then Nimoy is definitely the guy to voice him!

But they'll make bank off of this sequel for sure grif. And I didn't mind the voices of the Decepticons, I thought Starscream was pretty right on, though I wished Megatron had his original voice, it makes sense that it wouldn't have really matched well with the character.

With that point, I do agree, the voices at times were difficult to understand, maybe it was the filters or maybe the giant explosions kicking my ears in the balls haha!

I don't think they should even use Unicron. They did it in one Transformers movie. They are plenty of characters to use to make a great movie. My Opinion, Leave the Unicron ideas out of this.

Nimoy yes! Definitley a baddie. As Unicron? Mmm...Not yet. We haven't established enough back story yet. Once there is a definite familial connection from the audience to the Transformers, then they should bring in a looming threat to Decepticon and Autobot alike. Namely, Unicron. But who am I kidding? That might be too much story for Michael Bay to handle.

Oh! And Hawk? Keep 'em comin'! Your articles have been some of the best!

How would they even do Unicon. A vast majority of the Autobots can't fly, and Unicron is moon sized, so the battle will have to take place in space, so the ground bound Autobots would be super useless. Personally, I'm a fan of Unicron and I would hope they could do it, but I don't see how it's logical. Excuse the Nimoy pun there.
