The CW network has officially announced its fall 2012 schedule. Among the shows listed was Arrow, based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow/Oliver Queen. We previously heard that the show, which stars Stephen Amell as "Arrow" (as he will be called in the series), was picked up for a full series order a couple months ago. Now, the network has confirmed the precise date and time for its series premiere:

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10th
8:00-9:00 PM - ARROW (Series Premiere)
9:00-10:00 PM - SUPERNATURAL

Additionally, the long-running Supernatural will begin its eighth season on October 3rd at 9:00 PM, while an episode will air on Wednesdays following Arrow. Finally, Beauty & The Beast will have its series premiere October 11th at 9:00 PM, following the series premiere of The Vampire Diaries.

Many thanks to Entertainment Weekly for the above info. Click the link below to check out The CW's full schedule for this fall.

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he's become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel's father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver's own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.

The series stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Colin Donnell as Tommy, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, with Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.

It's apparently in a separate universe from Smallville. Which is a good thing.

Looks great! Can't wait. It's been a while since there were any live action superhero shows on tv.

I think everyone here should at least try to watch it. If it gets good ratings, it may lead the room for more superhero shows

Woah, they bushed back Supernatural from the Friday death slot to Wednesdays. Awesome, should get better ratings and more seasons even though we all know it should have ended at Season 5.

Yeah, that Deathstroke mask was a cooler teaser. Would be awesome if Slade Wilson appears.

Here's a review of the pilot (: they seem to like it. Apparently it's very dark and gritty, a big departure from Smallville

Is it just me, or does the actor that's playing Merlin look like Ted Mosby?

I want to like it, it looks good, but I can't get past the fact that it's such a Batman copycat. Not that that is a bad thing, I just don't know... something's just not right about it. Gonna watch though.

DiLusso - I was kinda thinking the same thing. Maybe that's a way DC can go a different route than using the same Marvel formula. Introduce several characters through TV shows and then put them into movies. Lots of films come out of TV shows - Star Trek, Serenity, Transformers, etc. It could be done.

I personally didn't HATE Smallville, and actually really enjoyed it for a few seasons. The show deserved a MUCH better ending than it received tho....TOM WELLING got a bit chubby there at the end and refused to put on the suit (if the rumors are true).

I dunno, I feel kinda lucky to have sort of "grown up" with SUPERMAN via SMALLVILLE.

Somehow it became "cool" on this website to hate on SMALLVILLE, but it wouldn't have lasted 10years if you all hated it as much as you say you do. ;)

I'm glad they have a premiere date set. I'm interested in checking this out. It's been too long since we've had a live action superhero TV show.

I don't get all the hate for Smallville. That show will always be special to me, because it got me back into comics books. Not just DC comics, but comics in general.

If I didn't watch that show, I would have probably never become a member of this site.
