ARROW Star Katie Cassidy Would Like To Play Catwoman Or A Female Version Of The Joker

Arrow alum Katie Cassidy has opened up on her hopes for a future comic book role, naming Catwoman or a female version Joker as two characters she would love the opportunity to play on screen one day!

Over the course of eight seasons of Arrow, Katie Cassidy made a significant impact as Laurel Lance/Black Canary/Black Siren, but the actress is already mulling over a future comic book role.

Interviewed by the folks at Geek House Show (via CBR), Cassidy was asked whether there are any other characters she would like to breathe life to on the big or small screen. "Yes, Catwoman," she responded. "I've always been a big fan. Michelle Pfeiffer killed it as Catwoman. I also happen to be a big fan of cats."

She went on to state that it "would be really cool to play The Joker, but as a woman," adding, "I think I'd make a pretty good Joker."

There is precedent for a female Joker, as the Flashpoint Batman was forced to battle his deranged wife Martha after she lost her mind upon witnessing the death of their son, Bruce. As for Catwoman, Zoe Kravitz is playing Selina Kyle in The Batman, so who knows if that opportunity will present itself.

The final season of Arrow set the stage for a spinoff starring Cassidy, Green Arrow and the Canaries, but it doesn't look like The CW is moving ahead with that series.

Well in the CW aynthing can happen, even a character that was created like last month can get a show, so wouldn't be surprised of anything to be honest.

@Urubrodi - The comic doesn't even come out until January.

But I do get your point.

As the #1 Catwoman fan on the planet, I'd approve. Her Black Siren character was basically an angry version of Catwoman anyway.😼

@99OPTIMISTPRIME - I'm glad I'm not the only one who knows and wants Punchline in a show or movie.

This chick thinks she’s a bigger deal than she is. Not known for a being a nice person in the film industry. Her career has peaked.

I take it their birds of prey-esque spinoff is a no-go? I think Kat McNamera is in the Stand now too.

*looks the Batman: Thrillkiller scan page*

She has source material to draw from then. (Not counting the Martha Joker from Flashpoint as well)
