Arrow ended its run after eight seasons on The CW, with Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen quite definitively killed off during the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event. It's a good job the series ended when it did, especially when the other DC TV shows on the network were forced to shorten their respective seasons in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Many of the actors in those shows have faced problems travelling from America to Canada, but Amell has now revealed that he suggested bringing Arrow back for a ninth season as a worst case scenario. Why? He wanted to help the Arrowverse team during what's proving to be a difficult time for them.

"I called Greg [Berlanti] up and said just that," Amell revealed on the Inside Of You With Michael Rosenbaum podcast. "I said, 'Look, I hope this doesn't happen, but if everything goes to sh*t and you guys can't get actors up here because of issues about mostly American actors crossing into Canada, and if things can't be figured out, here's the deal man."

"I'm here and if I have to stay here, I want to work. If I'm going to work, let’s just figure out a way to bring Oliver back from the dead.' I go, 'Yeah, of course, I'm f**king serious. Again, I hope it doesn't happen. But, can we at least put it on the radar,'" Amell added.

It's unlikely Arrow could have ever really been brought back, but had The CW been unable to resume work on the likes of Batwoman and The Flash, it's something they may have considered.

What direction do you think one more season of Arrow could have taken?

If it comes down to that, id say leave Arrow as is, find a way to fit him into Green Arrow And The Canaries for the first season. im sure that would get them to order the show. Would bring in viewers and would give people who are unsure of the idea to give it a chance, then by season 2, he leaves and Mia can take over fully

I keep forgetting to listen to that episode. He's always come across as a great leader.

At first glance it might be weird to read as if he's low-key desperate. But he had his new TV show set up even before Arrow ended, and I thought I heard he signed on for other projects too.

So, this just sounds like Amell being awesome/humble as usual.

How about adding Green Arrow to Legends of Tomorrow? Resurrection is common in Arrowverse so it's not a big deal. It would be nice to see him and Sara fighting together again.

I hope not. I'd rather see a comics accurate version of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow - preferably outside the CW/arrowverse umbrella.

I'd rather they do a mini series with the cast from Arrow that is not connected to the previous seasons, but instead is a comic accurate take on the character. Like when Sherlock did the special set in Victorian era England. You don't need to revive him, or worry about connecting it. Make it Green Arrow, Black Canary and Arsenal taking on a comic accurate Merlyn played by Jon Barrowman.
