ARROW, THE FLASH, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, SUPERGIRL, And BLACK LIGHTNING Likely To Be Renewed On The CW

We are nearing the end of the 2017-2018 TV season, and that means that some of our favorite comic book shows will be closing the door on their current chapter. The CW, and the Arrowverse in general, has cemented itself as the main home for DC Comics characters on the small screen. Regardless of how one feels about these shows, it is certainly remarkable that the CW has managed to create the big screen equivalent of an interconnected universe of superhero series on television.

Arrow is currently in its 6th season, The Flash its 4th, and both Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl in their 3rd seasons. This year also saw the debut of Black Lightning. While it has yet to be confirmed whether the story of Jefferson Pierce and company exists within the Arrowverse, signs are certainly indicating that this may be the case.

A new analysis from Deadline on the renewal prospects of network shows indicates that the CW will likely renew Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl for the upcoming Fall 2018 schedule. The Arrowverse shows bring in great ratings for the CW, and therefore the CW is unlikely to change what is working well for them. The report also indicates that Black Lightning, a show that has generally been met with praise from critics and fans alike, is a "sure bet for renewal."

Perhaps the most exciting and important take-away from this Deadline report is that Legends of Tomorrow will likely receive a 4th season, and this means that Matt Ryan will be joining the crew of the Waverider as a series regular portraying his fan-favorite take on John Constantine. With Constantine joining the Legends full-time, it is likely that the show will take an even more supernatural turn, perhaps tying into some of Matt Ryan's earliest adventures as the demonologist and petty dabler of the dark arts.

Are you excited to hear that these CW shows will likely be receiving renewals for future seasons? Have you been enjoying the current seasons? Be sure to let us know your thoughts below!

Man, it's taking longer than normal for these shows to get renewed for new seasons. Heck, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki changed their minds about the 14th season being the end, saying they love the storyline as long as they're willing to keep picking then up. I hope Supernatural never ends. I hope it's confirmed in the next few days.

WHY DONT THEY JUST CONFIRM IT ALREADY! That way shows that are cancelled can make sure to wrap things up and not end on a cliffhanger like every season does

@HeavyMetal4Life - Matt Ryan was a guest at the Armageddon Expo here in New Zealand over the weekend. The guy is such an engaging person the listen to. He was clearly enjoying talking about Constantine as well and seemed hyped to be playing the character regularly again.

@bcom - That's awesome, he seems like such an awesome guy. I have an article I want to write involving some interviews he's done. Will get to it in the coming days.

@HeavyMetal4Life - He was probably the most interesting guest panel to listen to. Jeremy Renner was also there and obviously most of the questions asked of him were about Infinity War and obviously he couldn’t answer them. The good thing about these festivals in NZ is that they’re a lot smaller and laid back compared to the massive ones in the states. All the stars say that and I think they also use it as an excuse to have a holiday in New Zealand lol.

Black Lightning definitely will get renewed. Views have been better than Arrow and legends.

You know...they never really wear their super suits on Legends. They're always in time period appropriate clothing. They should do more present/future stuff and more crossovers

Black Lightning for sure. Critically and viewership is nothing but positive (Wish the Tobius Whale character was more fleshed out, but the guy has charisma. I actually prefer the Lala guy). As for the other shows I haven't been caught up on the current episodes. From what I here from everyone it seems very lukewarm to straight not good.

@MrCamw1 - Legends and Arrow have been pretty good, Flash and Supergirl not so much.
