Back in 2020, it was reported that David Ramsay was set to reprise the role of Arrow's John Diggle for a new CW series set in the ArrowVerse. Details were few and far between and we haven't heard much about the project since, but Deadline has finally shared an update.

According to the trade, Ramsay will star in a show called Justice U, which will see Green Arrow's former friend and teammate lead a new group of heroes.

The logline tells us that "Diggle embarks on a new mission to recruit five young meta humans to live undercover as freshmen at a prestigious university. There he will oversee their education and train them to become the heroes of tomorrow."

The Arrow series finale strongly hinted that Diggle would eventually suit-up as the CWVerse's take on Green Lantern, and may even be revealed to be DC Comics' John Stewart. Whether that comes to pass during Justice U remains to be seen.

The show will be exec-produced by Superman & Louis' Michael Narducci, along with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, David Madden and Geoff Johns. Ramsay, who is set to direct episodes of several other DCTV shows, will also helm the pilot.

CW is sure going in on more DC shows. Kinda weird considering (and if its true) the rumour that WB wants to pawn it off

@bkmeijer - Well the DC stuff is kind of their bread and butter so if they want to sell it they need to keep pumping these out to show it’s value. I wouldn’t be surprised if when it does sell there’s a licensing deal to keep these shows alive

@Ha1frican - I don't know anyone who watches these shows anymore though.

@bkmeijer - The idea is that they will keep producing as a supplier - as it were - and the owner network will handle the business side of things.

Interesting idea and it's an original approach, just like how Legends of Tomorrow was at the start and how Gotham Knights sounds to.

The premise gives me some vibes of that spin-off from The Boys that is also in development about the trials potential students have to go through a Vought college to become the next top Supes for the company, but instead this one is portrayed as a slash-espionage mission, slash-ensemble superhero team origin story.

Diggle being the lead is already a must-see. I wonder which will be the other metas that he picks, which is kinda funny because he's always been against the ropes when dealing with them and he comes from a more grounded team.

Unless of course he now feels comfortable because he's assumed his new role with the content of that green box.

Pretty cool that one of the potential showrunners is one of the co-executive producers of Superman & Lois. That should give already an extra boost of confidence in the project.

It's You not U. We knew the CW is aimed towards teens but this is too much

He left The Flash last year with the resolve to stop ignoring what was inside that box and ended his tour on Supergirl repeating those words that echoed in his head, "worlds await".

If he's a Green Lantern already by the time this gets picked up, then he can handle any of the metas he'll have to evaluate.

Sounds dumb. I’m sure The Boys spin-off will get jokes in.

I mean his cameos haven't been going anywhere up to now so I'm glad he's finally getting his own project. He's been doing a solid job directing CW projects as well.

Weird that they cancelled one pointless Arrow Spin-off only to replace it with another. Of all the DC shows they could do....why this??
