DOOM PATROL And TITANS To End After Current Fourth Seasons

We had a feeling this was on the cards, and the trades are now reporting that Titans and Doom Patrol - which were both originally developed for the now defunct DC Universe streaming service - are coming to an end.

Both shows will finish up after their respective fourth seasons, which are currently streaming.

Though producers were said to have seen "the writing on the wall" and set out to ensure that these final seasons will give fans a satisfactory conclusion, the decision to cancel both series was reportedly made before James Gunn and Peter Safran came on board as DC Studios co-heads.

“While these will be the final seasons of Titans and Doom Patrol, we are very proud of these series and excited for fans to see their climactic endings,” an HBO Max spokesperson said in a statement. “We are grateful to Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television for making such thrilling, action-packed, heartfelt series. We thank Titans showrunner Greg Walker, executive producers Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns, Richard Hatem, and the team at Weed Road Pictures."

"For Doom Patrol, we celebrate showrunner Jeremy Carver and executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns, Chris Dingess and Tamara Becher-Wilkinson. For four seasons, fans have fallen in love with the Titans and Doom Patrol, investing in their trials and tribulations, and in their legendary battles saving the world time and time again.”

Both shows have their share of loyal fans, of course, but we have a feeling there will be more disappointment about Doom Patrol! Many seem to feel that Titans has taken a significant dip, while the misfit heroes who make up the DP team have maintained a high level of quality.

@GarthRanzz - Damn, Peacemaker was this community and my favorite tv show last year based on the end of the year poll. I like Gunn's direction with Peacemaker and where he is leading the DCU so far. The HBO Max berlanti shows started good but it fizzles really quick as the showrunners and writers struggle on where to take these characters. So each season they keep undoing and redoing the character's growth just to prolong it.

I feel this way about Superman and Lois too and wouldn't be surprised if that gets axed after S3 airs.

I remember back when the first teaser trailer for Titans season 1 dropped, James Gunn tweeted something to the effect of “[frick] Batman?! Lol. Okay then.”

As soon as he was appointed head of DC productions, including TV, I knew Titans days were numbered.”

Ironically, this has been the best season of Titans so far, not that that's saying much, but still.
