The DC Universe has just announced that up-and-coming English actor Joivan Wade (The First Purge) has joined the cast of Doom Patrol in a series regular role as Victor Stone, a.k.a. Cyborg. His character is being described "as charming and sarcastic, Vic may be connected to every computer on the world, but he struggles to maintain the connections that make him human. Desperate to gain acceptance from the outside world, Vic harnesses the curse of his cybernetic body and uses his powers as the ultimate hero for the digital age."

Wade joins a cast that will also feature Diane Guerrero (Orange Is The New Black) as Crazy Jane and April Bowlby (Titans) as Elasti Woman. Other members that will feature, but have yet-to-be-cast, include Robotman, Negative Man, and Dr. Niles Caulder.

Further details are unavailable, but the season synopsis does say Cyborg will have an integral role to play throughout the series as he recruits the five reluctant, borderline outcast, heroes and offers them a mission that will prove to be hard to refuse and that promises to take them to the weirdest and most unexpected corners of the DC universe, although it will also come with a warning that the fivesome would be foolish to ignore.

DOOM PATROL is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol's members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities—but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence—and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of TITANS, DOOM PATROL will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.

God if DC had Balls + Brains they could do So much on the tv side of things and really have them connect with their films. I like Batman but instead of having another film wouldn't it be better to have a 10 Ep season of a Batman show on HBO with the budget of Westworld and violence of daredevil and then have that Batman show up in a superman our JL movie on the big screen. If DC did that not only would they not have to worry about being different then Marvel they could actually start tiring out good products.

Cyborg should be with Teen Titans or Metal men, not Doom Patrol especially since he now is a part of THE JLA!! PICK ONE! *I hate WB*

BOO-YAH!

I don't think this means Ray Fisher is getting shafted at all btw. He will have his solo once WB re-arranges the mess of schedule they have.

Looking forward to this actor's take on Cy.

BOO-YAH! I'm happy Cyborg has been cast, but still upset he's not introduced in Titans first!

I like Cyborg. I have no doubt that he could have been better developed in a cinematic Teen Titans film.

Making him a founding member of the JLA was a HUGE mistake. Justice League should have been a big boost to Cyborg's popularity - but the film only made him a laughingstock. WB/DC should have respected the origin of the JLA and its decades of stories.

There's so much [frick]ery going on that we never processed that between Doom Patrol, Teen Titans and Justice League live action adaptations, the one place Cyborg wouldn't show up would be Teen Titans

Why is Cyborg a member of Doom Patrol? Isn't Robotman good enough?
