Season 2 of Gotham is said to focus on "The Rise of the Villains", and it looks like the show has added one more to their list of rogues. Deadline are reporting former Kids and The Wire star Leo Fitzpatrick is set for a recurring role on the FOX series. However, unlike several of his new castmates, he won't be playing a character from the comics. Instead, he'll portray gang leader 'Joe Pike', leader of an infamous group of arsonists known as 'the Pike Brothers'.

Pike is the latest villain headed to Gotham City in the wake of the deaths/departures of Fish Mooney, Sal Maroni and Carmine Falcone at the end of Season 1. He joins Jessica Lucas' Tigress and James Frain's Theo Galavan as new thorns in Jim Gordon's side next year. Are you interested in this original character, or would you rather have seen another familiar face from Batman's world famous rogues gallery? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Gotham Season 2 premieres Monday, September 21 on FOX.

Does this show have Recurring Viewers? I still haven't watched a single episode.

Happy the show is leaning towards having the stories overarc a few episodes like the last story in season one. It's an improvement over the freak of the week method.

Doesn't this sound like the enemy from the pilot of the 1990s Flash TV show?

Is Batman going to show up on this show, is there any chance of a time jump? I know in the initial interviews before the show they said he wouldn't but I'm just wondering

I couldn't get into last season, surprised it got renewed

Speaking of Batman, this tv spot back when Batman Begins came out is [frick]ing hilarious. It's basically Batman by the CW.

It's also possible not to like the adaptation and the direction that they are taking. I'm not interested in watching a pre-pubescent Batman and Catwoman grow up on screen. I'm not interested in watching Gordon and the GCPD take down Batman's rogues' gallery, etc, etc.... If you are that's cool.

I'm not.

It's not just about straying away from the source, all movie and Tv adaptations stray away from the source because it's a different medium than comics. If you don't like the direction they are taking, it's very reasonable not to like the show

I dont mind about the changes from the source material, or the fact that Batman doesn´t exist. Im cool with all that. That being said, I dont like Gotham because it has tone issues. It doesnt know what its trying to be. Is it a buddy cop show? Is it a crime thriller? Is it a drama? or me, it tries to be too many things and in the end, its none of all those.

@ismadder: Dammit, man, I was gonna make a Nicolas Pike joke!

It would actually make a lot of sense to be if Gotham and the '90s Flash show were set in the same universe: both are stylized in goofy ways and are loaded with cheese. But at least The Flash made good use of that cheese... and it actually featured the lead superhero in the show, of course.

Gotham has some of the worst acting I've witnessed in a TV show. It looks cheap. It's a horrible TV show, the only reason it's still on air is because of the popularity of the batman mythology, and even then it's losing batfans quickly.

Joe Pike may be an original character but his name sounds like it was ripped straight out of the Batman mythos.

I still say Maroni was killed off too early, though it was still awesome how unexpectedly it happened. I'm hoping to see Rupert Thorne on the show at some point.
