KRYPTON Canceled After Two Seasons; LOBO Spinoff Not Moving Forward At Syfy

Krypton revolves around Superman's grandfather, and the show which has also featured the likes of Brainiac and Doomsday is sadly coming to an end on Syfy (as are plans for Lobo). Read on for details...

Well, this is disappointing. Krypton may have been met with ridicule when it was first announced, but the series that delves into Superman's family tree has proven itself one of DC's better small screen adaptations. Unfortunately, the second season looks set to be its last as Syfy will not be moving forward with a third batch of episodes.

This also means that the network isn't going to be developing the spinoff revolving around Lobo

According to Deadline, Warner Horizon Scripted Television is in talks with other outlets in a bid to keep Krypton going so we could see it live on elsewhere. Both DC Universe and HBO Max are possibilities, but time will tell on that front.

So, what led to Syfy deciding to scrap the series? Well, while it was the network's most-watched new TV show since 2014 when it premiered in 2018, ratings dipped around 50% by the time it returned this year and as Syfy relies on linear ratings to monetise a series that comes from outside studios, it simply wasn't worth keeping it around.

Are you guys disappointed that Krypton has reached its end? (for now, at least)

@knocturnalzen10 - More has decisions from DC. Krypton was actually pretty good, surprisingly so, much better than CW right now.

DC never ceases to amazing me w/ how many bad decisions they can make.. how their still in business.. or how their gonna remain in business once Disney+ comes out.. that’s another question..

@MuadDib - You do know neither DC or Warner Brothers have final say on if a show gets renewed or not, in the end it's up to the network that airs the show. Syfy is always doing this crap, The Expanse and now Krypton, hopefully Krypton is saved by another network, hopefully not Amazon, I like their stuff, but they rarely ever release their original content on blu ray/dvd

@MuadDib - Man did you even read the article? DC is still trying to option it to other networks...it's Syfy that canceled it.

I would say move it to DC streaming but they'll probably cancel it like they did Swamp Thing.

Such a shame after an AWESOME S2.
Although i'm not surprised, i was actually mentally prepared for it, but still...it hurts, man...
I'm actually suprised it got a S2 tbh.

There were so many cool things to look forward to, Omega Men, Thanagarians, Braniac and Jor-El on Earth, one pissed af Zod because of the Black Mercy, MORE Doomsday, a possibile War of the Supermen, and Rao knows what...

@Doomsday8888 - In addition, I expected to see a battle "Angel vs. Demons" between the Thanagarians and the Parademons.

@Doomsday8888 -
Exactly. Season 1 was bland and unnecessary, but the awesome Season 2 won me over! I was looking forward to seeing Lobo and Superman's grandfather hunt down Brainiac (a villain who stole the show with his perfect live action portrayal).

They cancelled the Lobo series too :'(

The best Brainiac, the best Doomsday and a show better than most of the DCEU. It is disappointing that now they cancel it.

Sucks for those who were into it, although Superman is my favorite character I never saw the appeal but I’ve heard some good things

That's too bad because I heard it was good. At the same time I can't really see a show about Superman's grandfather running past 3 seasons max.
