KRYPTON Still In Development; New Details Revealed
It's been almost a year since we've heard anything about Syfy and Warner Horizon Television's planned Krypton TV series, but now David S. Goyer has offered a few updates.
Last we heard, Krypton had been given the green light for SyFy with David S. Goyer and Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time) on board as producers, and the official synopsis revealing that the show would tell the story of Kal-El's grandfather's attempts to bring peace to Superman's home planet.
That was back in December of 2014 - so what's been going on?
Collider asked Goyer about it, and he confirmed that it is indeed still in development, with an official update expected pretty soon. The EP also reveals that the story will take place 200 years before the events of Man Of Steel, and will expand upon that action-packed opening sequence on Krypton.
"Part of the fun of doing Man of Steel — and I was so insistent on setting that opening on Krypton and really seeing it, was pulling back the curtain. The first draft, the first forty pages were on Krypton, so we compressed that all down to fifteen minutes and there were a lot of ideas that I wanted to use in the film that didn’t ultimately make it into the film."
Some have taken Goyer's comments to mean the show will be in continuity with Man Of Steel, but to me it sounded like he was just using the movie's Kryptonian scenes to establish a timeline. But hey, you never know - hopefully we'll get clarification on that soon. Are you looking forward to Krypton? Sound off in the usual place.
