After months of anticipation, Syfy has narrowed the window for the premiere of its upcoming Superman prequel series, Krypton, to March 2018. We don't have an specific date yet, but we can assume it's coming soon-ish.

Syfy revealed the premiere window alongside a new, more detailed description for the series.

Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, KRYPTON follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray, Seg-El encounters Earthly time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) who warns he’s under the clock to save his beloved world from chaos. Fighting to redeem his family’s honor and protect the ones he loves, Seg is also faced with a life and death conflict – save his home planet or let it be destroyed in order to restore the fate of his future grandson.

KRYPTON is from Warner Horizon Scripted Television and is executive produced by David S. Goyer (“Man of Steel,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “The Dark Knight Trilogy”) through his Phantom Four banner, alongside Cameron Welsh, who serves as showrunner. In addition to Cuffe and Sipos, the show also stars Georgina Campbell (“Broadchurch”), Elliot Cowan (“Da Vinci’s Demons”), Ann Ogbomo (“World War Z”), Rasmus Hardiker (“Your Highness”), Wallis Day (“Will”), Aaron Pierre (“Tennison”) and Ian McElhinney (“Game of Thrones”). Based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, KRYPTON premieres in 2018.

A promo for Krypton was recently released, offering a brief glimpse at both the planet Kal-El once called home and the characters who populated it. Check it out below.

Krypton will premiere on Syfy sometime in March 2018.

@BlackBeltJones - so that's not worth exploring? Why not? Kal-El is a fascinating character, Jor-El is a fascinating character... must mean Jor-El's father is a schmuck.

The show is set on Superman's home planet. I think (and hope) it's going to be a blast!

First there was Smallville, then Gotham and Krypton... Now... There's Central City. About a young rookie cop named Joe West and his adventures in heroism.

if the prequel comics are still canon, wonder if we will eventually see Kara, and see how the ship got into the ice, in Man of Steel

If its is able to retain at least 10% of the excellence of the byrne & mignola miniseries then It will be great :)

I think the strategy now is to just milk the DC IP then once it is oversaturated sell it to another studio.

I just don't get this idea. Superman is who he is more so because of the Kents. I really have no interest in something that "sort of" connects to Superman, but not really.

This is so pointless. The planet blows up and the only thing that continues of them is Superman. Really though, this is so [frick]ing pointless, it hurts.

@Ragnarocknroll - No, it is not pointless. You will have the privilege of meeting young me. That is reason enough for this show.

Some facts about Krypton:

-They had a rigid family caste system
-Krypton had three major city-states: Argo, Kandor, and Kryptonopolis
-Kryptonians only lived on one of the several continents on the planet. The other continents were jungles filled with horrific monsters.
-Kryptons grew clones for use as organ donors. There would eventually be a clone rebellion known as the "Black Zero" war.
-Tomar-Re was the green lantern of their sector. Kryptonians were isolationist and refused aid in any situation from the Green Lanterns
-Krypton had its own Superhero who called himself Nightwing.
- In some realities Brainiac was a Kryptonian computer program
-Doomsday comes from ancient Krypton

Let's see all of this in the show.

See, Krypton is interesting and more than just a planet that blew up.
