Well, last week's shocking twist was confirmed tonight on Krypton, as it appears that Lyta Zod (Georgina Campbell) is indeed very dead, which should set up quite the second half as Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) and Nyssa (Wallis Day) work to stop both Zod (Colin Salmon) and Jax Ur (Hanna Waddingham) once and for all.

Meanwhile, next week's episode will see Zod seemingly square off against Doomsday as he attempts to take control of the most devastating weapon ever created, and it looks like we may also be getting some Doomsday backstory.

"Zods and Monsters"

Season 2 Episode 7

General Zod pushes for control of a dominating weapon; Seg and Nyssa fight to save Seg's life.

Set two generations before Superman ever heads to Earth, Krypton follows Kal-El’s grandfather (played by Cameron Cuffe) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. The series comes from producers David Goyer (the Dark Knight trilogy) and Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow). Along with Cuffe, the show stars Georgina Campbell (Broadchurch), Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons), Ann Ogbomo (World War Z), Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness), Wallis Day (Will), Aaron Pierre (Tennison) and Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones).

Krypton features:
Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El
Georgina Campbell as Lyta-Zod
Shaun Sipos as Adam Strange
Elliot Cowan as Daron-Vex
Ann Ogbomo as Jayna-Zod
Aaron Pierre as Dev-Em
Rasmus Hardiker as Kem
Wallis Day as Nyssa-Vex
Blake Ritson as Brainiac
Ian McElhinney as Val-El
Colin Salmon as General Dru-Zod

@dragon316 - I don't even care anymore if we do get a proper one. I don't see the point in Mandarin if there's no Iron Man.

This season 2 has been really great, i was not a fan of a...couple creative choices they took with certain characters, like gender-swapping Jax-Ur or racebending Zod, but f*ck it, these actors are f*cking great i now i'm totally ok with this shit!

Using Braniac this way with Seg was GENIUS!
And now...we may actually get Doomsday's origin...never thought i'd get too see that!

Also, i'm glad they didn't half-ass Lyta's death, she served her purpose.

@Doomsday8888 -
like gender-swapping Jax-Ur or racebending Zod

The way I approach it with race or gender changes is to ask myself if it affects the character in question. Zod's race for example has never been a central aspect to his character, his persona is. You can swap him back with a White actor right now and it won't suddenly make some sort of meaningful difference to him or the story.

Black Panther's race however IS a central aspect of the character so switching him with a White actor in the film wouldn't work at all. The race and gender of Jax-Ur or Zod aren't an intrinsic part of the characters nor important to the story therefor they technically shouldn't matter to anyone beyond simply wanting them to be White or male for superficial reasons.
